I don’t know a man who doesn’t own a gun

Okay I thought of a couple but they use guns so it didn't click.
If the guns you use are in a gun trust, you don't own them.

Kentucky way higher than what they show. Hell, we practically invented feuding. We have the NCAA champion rifle team.
All these numbers seem way low.

maybe but SC we don't have to register a gun. Im not sure how they are getting their data but if we have 4 million citizens id bet close to 60% have one. maybe more

The RAND Corporation published a 2020 study on adults who say they live with at least one gun. And every year, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms publishes a list of federally registered guns by state. It covers only a subsection of weapons — short-barreled shotguns, short-barreled rifles, and machine guns are included, along with silencers and destructive devices like grenades, but ordinary pistols or AR-15s are not.
So which states had the most such licenses in 2021? Here's the latest ranking, along with the RAND numbers, which reveal insights into America's love of guns.
So "registered" guns is only a very small percentage of actual guns?

I wonder whether EKG’s percentages refer to households rather than individuals, because a recent Gallup poll said that only 30% of people currently own a gun.

FYI, these numbers are lower than reality. Bunch of people own firearms that are not on anyone's list.

the average gun advocate usually has more than one or so I’ve heard…

Let's look at background checks in the last 25 years. Now background checks don't mean new guns, background checks happen on old guns changing hands at an FFL, like a pawn shop, and background checks also don't happen per gun, they happen per transaction. There can be multiple guns listed on one NICS check. With that being said lets look at the numbers...

That depends on if you believe the ATF when they say they only track that subsection of weapons. They track every purchase that goes through a licensed dealer. It's illegal as hell but they do it.

Not sure where those numbers came from, but we don't have gun registration in Texas.

Looks correct. About half of Louisiana lost their guns in a boating accident.

i lost all my guns to a tragic boating accident
i dont know what i was thinking carrying all my guns in one boat

Just curious because Texas for instance has 588k registered guns
I'm curious about how these are "registered", since there's not supposed to be a gun database?

I don't disagree... however the fact that they have that high a % of registered gun owners is not in of itself a good thing

NJ et all do not surprise me one bit.
Those states have some pretty stupid regulations with regards to guns including that automatics can only have a mag no larger than 6-10 bullets.
General interpretation of these numbers? Any state with a sizable portion of its population outside of 1-2 main cities tends to have strong 2nd Amendment support. Anyone who is generally living in a state with a metropolis is likely to be heavily regulated on gun ownership.

What, exactly, is this post supposed to be telling us, because if you apportioned the number of registered firearms in Texas to the exact same number of people, that would only be 2% of the population of Texas, not 45.7%.
