You need to get out more then. Quite a few of the "Citizens of the World" types out there. Especially on the coasts. Straight up believe that we should abolish all national boundaries and citizenship requirements.

that is different

I know a few like this, but they don't believe in citizenship, so to me, that is a different debate

One of my employees is a Danish citizen. She is also a permanent resident in the United States. She pays all of her taxes. She pays into Social Security. She loves living here, but she doesn't want to pull the trigger on citizenship for safety net reasons.

She has 2 children that were born on US soil and are US citizens. They spent about half of their early years in the US and the other half in Denmark. The older one went to the Naval Academy and is now a captain stationed in Norfolk. The younger one went to the Air Force Academy and is a pilot stationed in Japan.

She's earned the rights that she has, and it would be good if we could get more people like her in the country.

I think there's a difference between rights and privileges. Too many confuse the two.

I don't care. I think we should be better than them. I say everything but the right to vote. If they however are paying taxes, they get everything else.

Doesn't matter what I believe, It matters what the Constitution says.

They don't have citizens rights.

Just up vote if you are for non citizens have the same rights as You as an American.

I'm not getting into the legality. Just your opinion.

If you are for non Americans having the same Rights as you... upvote.

If you are against non citizens having the same rights as American Citizens... down vote
Depends on what you are considering rights (Bill of rights vs. More Privileges), and the categorization of non-citizen (e.g., on a work visa vs. here illegally)?

Specifically, if we are talking about the rights afforded within the constitution (freedom of speech, due process, etc.), I'm inclined to believe anybody should be afforded those rights here in the United States?

If we are including things like disability, tax breaks, etc. as rights, then those should get decreasingly afforded as we move from citizens to legal non-citizens--all the way down to illegal immigrants who should not be afforded those.

The legal argument that I've read isn't about immigrant rights, but the legal authority of the President to issue the particular EO. FB arguments are for emotional f a g g o t s.

They don't have the same "rights and privileges" that we do, but it's not like the fundamental rights provided by the Constitution are not applicable to them (we can't just throw a non-citizen in jail, and leave him to die).

Of course I'm for this. I want non-citizens to be citizens. Americans are the best people in the world; more Americans is a good thing.

Do you think the United States of America should be the governing entity in ensuring all the people in the world have these rights?

Every one of those people is ignorant.

No successful country or nation in the history of planet Earth has offered every person in the world unfettered access and protection to all of its government programs and borders

But I don't know how to answer your question, because everyone seems to have a different definition of what constitutes a "right" these days. They certainly don't have a right to full and equal access to our government, economic, or military systems. None of those systems are advanced enough to protect everyone worldwide

Let me simplify it for you. The right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is inherent to everyone. That is stated in The Declaration of Independence.

But the rights to a citizen is ONLY for his/her country. That is spelled out in each country's constitution.

I mostly agree with this response. But, if here illegally, no due process should be needed to expel them from our country, if a crime is committed.

WTF Do you know your history at all? Have you read the Declaration of Independence, The Bill of Rights, The Constitution?

That is one of the most asinine statements ever. Go back to school.
