Are you suggesting that it's Trump's fault?

How long are you willing to give POTUS to see a return to normal in your purchasing power before you have second thoughts?

Prices rarely come down. Only thing that terrifies the FOMC is deflation. If you have deflation it's almost always due to lack of demand. It's next to impossible to create demand.
That said, to get purchasing power, incomes have to increase. Hard to do that in a short term.

Hard to immediately build on a shitty foundation. I will give him time while he keeps up the good work cutting waste and fraud in the government.

I wish they would nuke the whole system and really fix the underlying problems (reform entitlements, cut federal spending, get back on gold standard, etc) but we will never see it. Trump is the closest we have been in our lifetimes to something resembling accountability to budget.

Truthfully, I never believe a single president had total control of the economy. But I believe Trump is and will do whatever he can. Also, Trump is doing a lot of other good and important things.

It’ll take years to undo the Biden damage.

Two years but even that may not be enough.

I need to see if his war on regulations can get some big capital projects moving in the right direction. So much was put on hold during the Biden era, but the feedback I am getting is that businesses are still leery of giving the go-ahead due to "uncertainty."

Hopefully, the Apple announcement yesterday could be a significant domino.

The sad reality is that the left has gone so far off of the reservation that businesses are hesitant to green light billion projects with the looming threat of another Dem admin coming into power in four years.

Nothing is really going to change until they dig in at the Department level and reverse the regs and other stupidity driving up the costs of industry inputs:

Fuel
Electricity
EPA regs on food production
Subsidies and regs that impact supply
Regs on auto mpg standards
Regs on construction
DEI requirements for contracting

This needs to be done ASAP as there will be an impact in cutting govt spending and reducing the workforce on the GDP.

18 mo to two years will be enough to start seeing results, good or bad.

If Trump does things right, we might see a worse economy for the short term.

The US Constitution gives him four years. Let's go with that.

Took Reagan about 2 years. This is worse. Trump is off to a galactic level great start.

There will be pain before pleasure.

Laying off middle class federal workers will cause a credit crunch in the short term.

Tariffs are an excess tax on Americans until they can get rid of some already existing taxes (hopefully).

Long-run, spending cuts and increased revenue from imports (and energy exports) should lead to much less taxation for the individual.

DOGE rebates might give a temporary economic "bump" but provide no benefit long-term. It's just welfare unless what people have paid in is taken into account.

I think it might take longer than 4 years to see the benefits.

In the meantime, I want to see some justice for the career thieves, rapists, and murderers in government and adjacent to government who have had their way for far too long.

I mean he has until his tenure is over (4 more years) and that's really it.

I already have an idea of which direction I'm going to vote in the mid-terms but unless PDJT is thrown out of office (I doubt that happens), he'll be President until 2028.

Democrats spent the last 4 years doing anything to disrupt the country. 30 million illegals destroying the housing market, inflation through the roof, social breakdown of our country, media manipulation and you’re thinking that this is a quick fix? Maybe just maybe in a decade we can be like almost ok

Gas prices actually came down $0.12 since that thread.

Lucky. We’ve gone up considerably, close to 10%, this year. The Chevron close to our house is starting to push $6 for premium. Costco, where I normally fill up, is in pushing $4.50 for premium. We were hovering right around $4. This summer might suck.

Maybe a little hyperbolic and not everything listed actually affects the economy, but this guy gets it. He at least gets that it's a much bigger fix than anything Trump can do in a month. Or a year. Or a term.
