With that rationale you better arm yourself with M2's, MK19's, 81MM mortars, TOWs, etc....so when 3d BN 8th Marines rolls into your town, to quell your uprising you 'might' stand a chance....cmon.
Just the facts, the 2d Amendment was enacted in 1791.
We were a fledging nation. We did not have a large, professionally trained/paid military or police force. The citizenry were for the large part our militia and your rifle put food on the table. We didn't have a grocery store in every town. Today we do.

With that said, should we repeal the 2d amendment, absolutely NOT. Should we amend it, like we do with other laws to reflect current times/events....yes. Keep your pistols, hunting rifles/shotguns (I'll keep mine too), but join the military or police force if you want access to military style weapons with high capacity magazines.
