Young people today are living through their own government trying to destroy the middle class and make everyone lifetime renters, but you had it worse because you had linoleum floors. You see how that makes you a huge pussy?
It means you're not listening.

Gen Z Ahead Of Millennials In Owning Their Own Homes
by Katherine Hamilton
Apr 21, 2023
The Gen Z generation is tracking ahead of Millennials and Gen X for homeownership, a new Redfin study shows...
• Roughly 30% of 25-year-olds in 2022—the oldest of the Gen Z (born between 1997 to 2013)—owned their home in 2022, a slightly higher percentage than the 28% of Millennials (born between 1981 to 1996) who owned homes at that age and the 27% of Gen Xers (born between 1965 and 1980)—but lower than the rate for Baby Boomers (born between 1946 and 1964), 32% of whom owned homes at age 25.
• While Gen Z is ahead of their parents’ generation, Millennials are still tracking behind—62% of 40-year-old Millennials owned a home in 2022 compared with the 69% homeownership rate for Baby Boomers at that age.
• The oldest of Gen Z were buying houses during the purchasing boom in 2020 and 2021, while the oldest Millennials reached age 25 right around the 2008 mortgage crisis.
• Gen Z homebuyers have been flocking more toward affordable parts of the country, like Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Cincinnati, while Millennial buyers are more prevalent in job centers like Seattle and Philadelphia.

Has the used car market always been this retarded?
2019 Toyota Tundra SR5
$37,000
89,000 miles
I get it’s a luxury car, but what happened to losing half the value driving off the lot?

From this paragraph that you just quoted:

and FYI, be careful about terminology such as "right around the 2008 mortgage crisis" when you're trying to make a definitive point. In actuality, Gen-Y reached 25 in 2006, not 2008. In '06, Fannie/Freddie were working to make lending/borrowing as easy as possible.

In your world of make believe, you can make anybody look like a pussy and you the forever victim of all the boogeymen out to get your generation. But in the real world the point I made about linoleum floors and formica countertops is spot on - if you want to build a replica of the first house I ever bought (1988), you'd be building a much cheaper home than the "median" home of today because it had no quartz/granite countertops, tile flooring, upgraded appliances, wired for surround sound, covered patio, impressive front door, and no AC for about half of them - basically, today's median home is a much nicer/substantially upgraded version of the median home 50 years ago, but that isn't necessary. If there was a market for it, the median price of a new home today could be 20% (or more) lower if builders built the more basic, not as nice/upgraded home of 50 years ago. But zoomers would turn their nose up to that product.
Also, I have not argued that I had it worse. I've argued that you don't have it worse. There's a difference. You are the soft as frick whiner bitching about his lot in life. Not me.

Do you have any idea what the average laborer in Louisiana makes per hour? You act like work ethic is the problem.
Average laborers are never going to live like kings. There was a brief period, when America was the only standing economy in the world, when laborers lived better. But that is unrealistic. A common laborer, who never masters his craft, is going to live in a cheap house or trailer. But he’ll be able to afford it.
Over and over again I have conversations with young men who just don’t want to work very much. One guy, who gave my wife and I an uber ride, was saying that he and his girl were going to move to Holland. Why Holland? She was a nurse, and Holland had a shortage, according to him. And in Holland you were guaranteed about 8 weeks vacation! Now that’s a guy who doesn’t want to work and doesn’t deserve to live well.

I just checked. Our construction company pays $35 per hour for an ENTRY LEVEL welder. That’s $72,800 per year without overtime. Overtime is time and a half. So an entry level welder can make $100,000 if he’s willing to work. As time goes by he’ll make more.
Anyone who hasn’t enough gumption to get certified in welding has no sympathy from me, unless he’s disabled.

quote:Depends on the "live like kings" standard. Obviously an average plumber should aspire to be a master plumber, a welder a master welder, etc. But master laborers can do very well. FedEx drivers can do very well.
Average laborers are never going to live like kings
By the standards of most European Countries, nearly all Asian Countries,
and every South American or African Country, those folks in the US are living like kings.
On the other hand, someone ending their education with a poor GPA and a biology, literature, or music degree from Amherst College at >$350K will deservedly be screwed.

I'm involved with our local technical college and the welders are so in demand they hurt our stats. One of the metrics the school is measured on is program completion, and welders are getting offers the second their coupons pass inspection. They're not going to hang around just to get a "degree" when someone's waiving $60k-$70k at them.

So the claim that was made that you said was wrong consisted of two predictions:
1. You wrote in someone like Lil Wayne
2. You wanted Biden to win and the throwaway vote was designed to allow Biden to win without actually voting for him
I assume we don't need to discuss how accurate the first prediction was.
As to the second, unless you thought Kanye West might really win, you'll have to explain how the second prediction missed the mark. Because there were only two feasible possibilities and if you had wanted Trump to win, you'd have voted for him.

Because they're a far smaller generation and I'd imagine that data is not totally accurate.
Or Gen Z is getting their parents to buy their homes.

They problem is "within your means".
The more generations we have, the less they will know what this means.
Every generation since X has acted like the divorced house wife that thinks she's owed the world x10.
