Thailand, Mexico, Japan, Canada and Vietnam all export more tires to the USA than china.

I honestly don't buy anything except for some records here and there.

And a lot of times those are used and already here in the states.

Don't know where you got that # from but it's bullshite.

It is bullshite. Around 20% of the tires sold in the US are from China.

I think we're talking about exporting. China is the largest exporter of tires in the world.

I hope my wife stops buying shite on Amazon every single fricking day.

I feel your pain. The weird thing is that my wife's daily purchase is mostly pills. She has about 100 bottles. Half of them guarantee to keep you young looking and half guarantee to keep you skinny. None of them come from foreign countries so there are no tariffs.

Good news! When you (and the rest of us) become insolvent, none of those impulsive Amazon purchases will go through. Think of the money saved!

Only thing i would need from this list in the next year or 18 months would be tires.

But tires are actually made here.

I mean to the USA but I'll edit it.

Unless I misunderstood him he was saying over 80% of the tires imported to the US were chinese.

In the US or worldwide?

Think you need to provide a reference.

Gooble says you're right about tire imports.

Will definitely support made in America companies and their products more, and not give a penny to those who care more about China than the US.

Perfect time to vote with your dollars!

If you don't have a freeze dryer, I'd recommend one. Wife and I garden and run it constantly in the summer.

My Harvest Right is on order.

I grow a few pepper plants and some blackberries and forage buckets of mulberries and sand plums every year, but we also catch a lot of free overflow from friends' gardens. Harvest time is an absolute bounty and Mrs. Axe and I weighed our options and determined a freeze dryer to be the most efficient process to eliminate waste altogether.

I wish there was a more competitive market on freeze dryers but it is what it is. There's not a more efficient way to preserve fresh food, period. She already has a recipe book so we can package our own Mountain House-type freeze dried meals for long term storage.

The average person isn't going to notice that their store brand bottle of ibuprofen is $3 instead of $2.

I will probably continue to assess whether the the value I receive exceeds the stated cost.

What the hell are we doing here people.

I have a lot of moving equipment things and things break. It's always a cost/benefit with me. I assess the need, determine the cost. Do it or not. I don't really try to figure out where it comes from. Maybe I should but when you have moving equipment that needs maintenance, etc., you do what you have to do.
However, I voted for Trump to shake things up. I am willing to do whatever to get our jobs back. I suspect he will win more than he loses on these tarriffs. I'll hang on and continue to "go get it Trump".

For me, a couple things.

1. Going to try to buy less made in Canada, Lidl and Aldi are cheap, but until Canada elects someone not trying to screw us I think I'll avoid Canadian products.

2. Going to buy more at the local farmers markets

3. More closely watch Amazon buys.

4. Some of the European things I was buying going to hold up on that... German Flannel is really nice though.

Will see how it goes, but I looked at a lot of what I buy and I'm not that exposed to Chinese goods (bought a cabinet from China and it was a disaster, fell apart during install and they fought me for a week before they processed the return). I've been quite try to buy USA as much as possible, I think this will push me more towards that.

I'll probably need to buy less often but more expensive and take care of things longer.

You are foolish if you think you can avoid this. This country is so dependent on other countries around the world that there are so many indirect tariffs that you will be paying and not even realize it. This isn't something that will turn around in the short term, it will take years for businesses in the USA to make up for the materials that we get from other countries.
