Absolutely not. They just want the regional dominance for now. I still don't think their economy can survive another 10 years without complete collapse. But I've said that for 10 years at this point lol

Yeah,we're up to our eyeballs in debt. It's our fault, no long term planning and neglecting infrastructure just to play world police.

People will bemoan this, yet we have hypocritical bastards right here who will continue to financially support people and organizations who are totally in bed with the Chi-Coms. You know, like Nike, the NBA, Steve Kerr, Lebron the Retard (just a few examples).
Sad day.
Sad day.

They bought our government, media, and educational systems off. They didn't have to fight us.
They used our own greed as a weapon and we enriched them in the process. Wall Street and the Federal government are just straight evil at this point.

It’s beautiful isn’t it. Can’t make it up

Our defense budget is just now up to $700B out of $4T total.
Our deficit is bigger than our entire defense budget.
"Playing World Police" is not the biggest problem.

China cannot bring a conflict to American soil beyond missile strikes, just as we could not invade mainland China. But South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Taiwan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, etc., and our territories in the Pacific (Guam) are certainly on notice.
If I had to place a bet, when (and not if) the next war in East Asia starts, the beginning stages are going to concern Taiwan.
One wildcard in all of this that is rarely discussed when this gets brought up is India. India and China have fought several conflicts in the last 60 years or so over territory in Tibet and the Kashmir region, and India has been greatly increasing their military spending in China-like fashion.

They have had regional dominance since the early 2000's. If you think their ambitions are limited to dominating their own sphere of influence, look no further than the Nine-Dash Line and their 1st/2nd/3rd Ring strategy for the islands in the Pacific.

Yeah, China has hell to pay for all they've done. It's time to stop hobnobbing them. Pull out all our factories, put trade at a bare minimum, and mass sanctions. You know how Leftists accuse the Right for trying to start a coup in Venezuela? Lets just be open about it that that is indeed the end goal when it comes to China. I hope the Chinese people drag Xi and all the CCP leadership out onto Tiananmen Square and execute them in front of the world.
Hong Kong is one of the greatest cities in the world, maybe only 2nd to New York. This is a tragedy. The whole world needs to turn against the Chinese government, and I fear what that country is about to do to Africa as a whole. Tens of millions of Africans are going to die over this, since China has been counting on something like this happening for decades. The world was only going to play nice with them for so long before they snapped, and we've arrived at the snapping point.

It's part of the problem, the other issue is unsustainable entitlements but no one is touching that.

Lot of profitable companies will be looking for a new home.

No, I understand their ambitions. I'm saying it's not the least bit probable at this point in time. They do not have the military presence nor the resources to come after us in a non financial way.

I think that could well be the case. If these Chi-Com bastards are putting their boots on Hong Kong's throat, it only seems inevitable that they will turn their focus to Taiwan at some time.

That one voter is done.
Correction, 7 are done. They look at the abstainers no differently.

Was it possible for Hong Kong citizens to store money offshore prior to this event?
Posted on 5/28/20 at 10:12 am to Indefatigable
I’d like the West to shift harder towards India, China’s regional rival. I’ve been saying that for 25 years.
Posted on 5/28/20 at 10:12 am to OMLandshark
Absolutely. Beijing is shifting away from "peaceful repatriation" to simply "repatriation" over the last few years. It is absolutely coming.
Those artificial islands and the ring of installations the Chinese are building in the South China sea are almost certainly directly related to an offensive against Taiwan. With those anti ship batteries and air fields, it will make the United States/allies job of defending Taiwan exponentially more difficult.
