It's actually a lack of faith or facts.
How about being nice and a good person without the "carrot" of heaven dangling in front of your nose.

Also I don't believe but say merry Christmas AA a habit and I don't care.
If you have children you act a Santa Claus is real, but you know the truth. You buy the presents and stuff the stockings, but you keep up the rouse because to see them happy. They believing is what makes it special; however, you know it's going to go away someday and just be another day you exchange gifts and decorate for the next generation.

It's funny to hear people who say they are so strong in their Christian faith embrace the pagan winter solstice so strongly.

In my experience “smart” people tend to fixate on the stupidest shite possible.

Nope. Heck I usually say Merry Christmas back. Because I'm not an a-hole and if someone is expressing a positive greeting to me and trying to be nice I see no reason to be an a-hole back

Too many of my fellow atheist are just pricks

No. We have Xmas decorations at my house now because of my wife and kids.

It’s not my place to instruct staunch atheist on how to conduct themselves with respect to the Christmas Holiday but if I’m an atheist I would not be okay with Happy Holidays either.

I'm aware of my country's history, and love my country, therefore I am OK with all of this. Plus time off of work while getting paid is nice too.

The unnamed saint of the atheist movement was Christopher Hitchens, it’s kinda strange that the go to guy on all things atheistic has the word “Christ” at the root of his name. Anyway, Hitchens should be remembered and honored each year, either his birthday or the day of his death and I even have a salutation for the atheist day of remembrance,

No thanks. That would imply I worship something. I don't want to worship Hitchens either.

I console myself by laughing at Christians engaging in rituals with pagan roots, and I choose to use the season as an opportunity to honor the gods and goddesses of our forefathers before they were infiltrated by a middle eastern, Jewish cult.

As a Christian, I chuckle then they use “Happy Holidays.”

They are acknowledging that is indeed a ‘Holy Day’ and thus a shout out to Jesus.

You need to differentiate between the voices in your head and reality, Ive never heard anyone say that. Thats what YOU believe non religious people say.

In my experience, happy holidays is more to be inclusive to Jewish people than anything. Why would the staunch atheist that you are picturing say happy holidays when they have no holiday to celebrate?

Removing the straw man, most Americans treat Christmas as a time to visit family and friends. I am not particularly religious nor is my parents but we still celebrate Christmas

It’s the fact that Christmas is crammed fown your throat.??All comnercials are Christmas. Music, decorations etc. if I don’f give a rats arse that its Jesus birthday, people are in shock. No I don’t think the lights are pretty, pretty thrashy. Keep your religious obsession to your self. And the sweaters look stupid. That said, I don’t care which greeting is used.

You sound angry and obsessed. Not a good combination nor an indicator of good mental health.
Try and calm down before you beat your wife or girlfriend/boyfriend. Don't kick your dog either.

Yeah, like I'm putting my non-belief above the receiving of gifts and the eating of delicious ham. Guess I'm not a very good atheist.

I’m an atheist since around 2003, and I still love Christmas. My wife is a Christian, and she is the one who doesn’t want to spend money on a tree or tries to buy a Charlie Brown tree every year. I buy a nice big flocked tree every year, and along with the regular ornaments, I adorn it with atheist ornaments - Darwin in a Santa hat, Jesus riding a dinosaur, The Darwin fish with legs eating the Christian fish, one that says “Eve was framed,” etc... Every year I have to force her and my kid to do something Christmasy. They won’t go see Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s Christmas show anymore with me, so last night I took my wife to see the Brian Setzer Orchestra’s Christmas concert at Beau Rivage. They refuse to go see Nutcracker again, though I ask every year.

And my youngest kid is 18, so it’s not a kid thing. I have the whole family over to my house now since my parents are getting older and don’t need the hassle.

Oh, and Merry Christmas!
