Honest question for the PT Atheist

If you’re an atheist do you celebrate Christmas and why? And does the traditional Christian salutation of Merry Christmas offend you? I know many atheist are ok with Happy Holidays but Merry Christmas is to specific and is direct acknowledgement of the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
It’s not my place to instruct staunch atheist on how to conduct themselves with respect to the Christmas Holiday but if I’m an atheist I would not be okay with Happy Holidays either.
Holiday comes from Holy day, if I were an atheist this would not be any different than saying Merry Christmas because both are an acknowledgement of a supreme being.
Maybe atheist should boycott the Xmas holiday or create an alternative celebration that’s a better representation of their personal philosophical beliefs. I have a suggestion.
The unnamed saint of the atheist movement was Christopher Hitchens, it’s kinda strange that the go to guy on all things atheistic has the word “Christ” at the root of his name. Anyway, Hitchens should be remembered and honored each year, either his birthday or the day of his death and I even have a salutation for the atheist day of remembrance,
MERRY HITCHMAS!

Atheist outrage over use of the word “Christmas” is a myth perpetrated by insecure Christians.

The “war on Christmas” is one in a very long line of the right’s boogeymen. I’m atheist and say Merry Christmas all of the time. This is such a non-starter.

Religious people are so weird.

I knew it wouldn’t be an “honest” question.

Christ himself wouldn't be so arrogant as to think saying merry Christmas means you have faith.

It’s the fact that Christmas is crammed fown your throat.??All comnercials are Christmas. Music, decorations etc. if I don’f give a rats arse that its Jesus birthday, people are in shock. No I don’t think the lights are pretty, pretty thrashy. Keep your religious obsession to your self. And the sweaters look stupid. That said, I don’t care which greeting is used.

I’ve never met a group of people more insecure in their own faith than the atheists.

That would be less nonsensical than the divinity myth, good idea.

In English, many nouns can be made plural by adding an “s”.
E.g., the word “atheist” used with the modifier “many” becomes “many atheists”

I don’t care at all what people say. Happy holidays, merry Christmas, whatever.
I honestly have no idea how religious people especially Christians in the USA feel so persecuted.

Nope. Heck I usually say Merry Christmas back. Because I'm not an a-hole and if someone is expressing a positive greeting to me and trying to be nice I see no reason to be an a-hole back
Too many of my fellow atheist are just pricks

I appreciate the honesty, I guess my perspective comes from my strong Christian beliefs. Knowing my strong convictions with regards to Christianity I think if I were an atheist my casual participation in religious observances would only serve to perpetuate the folly of a omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent being living in the clouds.
I don’t know, I think if I were a staunch atheist I’m forgoing the Xmas holiday all together just to be consistent with my philosophical beliefs.

It’s kinda like an atheist saying, “there is no God and I hate him!”
