The weak minded sheep dont create the strife, the wolves who control them do. Religion is an easy way to control people. Its why Constantinople helped move the the great Roman Empire from a pagan polytheism state to an easier to control monotheism based around a state controlled religion of a single entity.

Actually the quote you were responding to said Christmas was rooted in pagan rituals, not Christmas itself

A distinction without a difference. That being said..if you believe your own post...why did a tree become the core of your response?

God didn’t create earth or the universe. I still say Merry Christmas. The atheist being offended by Christmas thing is largely false

It's funny to hear people who say they are so strong in their Christian faith embrace the pagan winter solstice so strongly.

Christians have no concern regarding the day of observance for Christ’s birth it just happens to be the 25th day of December and can be traced back to Constantine, the 1st Christian Roman emperor. The winter solstice is insignificant to the actual Christmas celebration.

No it’s not. But Christianity is based on a myth.

How was the Christmas tree "hammered" into your entire childhood?? Your entire childhood had beliefs about a Christmas tree?? Sounds odd.

My parents do not celebrate Christmas in the traditional way due to their beliefs that it is largely based on pagan rituals.

The Christmas tree was one of the main things they opposed.

Thanks for the reply.
It still seems odd.
How do they feel about other holidays like Halloween? Are they strongly against how that is celebrated?

I’m going to say it again, if I were an atheist I would not be participating in any religious holiday in any fashion.

It would make more sense for atheists to ignore all religious observances and if so desired create new cultural celebrations that remove any reference to religion.

Like I said, the majority of atheists just don’t care. We are not opposed to religion. We don’t hate religion.

Hell, I read my daughter Bible stories when she asks me to.

Most of y’all just hear the loud militant atheists and paint all atheists with the same brush.

I hate the militant atheist just as much as you most likely.

Thats odd. History is the basis for my claim that Christmas based on pagan origins is a myth.

Here's one of many sources.

And by the way, you’re still misconstruing my statement. Deliberately so?

Well that's silly

I don't tell you how to enjoy the time off in December. You don't tell me

I don't think many religious choices "make sense" but that's their choice.

It makes sense for me to enjoy the holidays as a time of helping people and giving.

This isn't a complicated concept.

The timing of it is perfectly normal cultural behavior
