Dr. Umar Johnson leads protest in Jackson following controversial bills passed at the State Capitol this week

quote:

More than two dozen people gathered to speak out against both bills. Spearheading the protest, well-known psychologist, activist, and motivational speaker Dr. Umar Johnson. Johnson said he believes this is a racist agenda state lawmakers are trying to implement.

quote:

“This is 21st-century apartheid, this is the return of Jim Crow, this is the return of Willie Lynch,” said Johnson.

quote:

“We don’t want legislators from up north and Horn Lake and Senatobia to come and tell us how we should spend this money,” said Maati Jone Primm., Jackson business owner and resident. “We were able to get the money. We know how to spend it.”

quote:

“I read in one of the newspapers, one of the state reps, he said that the reason we got to do this capitol district, the reason we got to expand it is because of crime,” said Johnson. “If that’s the case, why you didn’t just give the resources to the city? If that’s the case, why did you have to create a completely separate capitol district? You didn’t need no completely separate district. It was just the opportunism of the white man seeking an opportunity to get in and take over where he’s not needed.”

One person taken to hospital after shooting in Fondren; nearby bowling alley employees assist victim

quote:

Capitol Police responded to the incident which took place around 9:30 p.m. near Highball Lanes in Fondren. One person was taken to the hospital. Police did not release any additional details about what happened or the extent of injuries, but a spokesperson for Highball Lanes issued the following statement.

quote:

“Highball Lanes staff attended to a victim of a shooting incident that occurred late in the evening of February 8. The incident happened in front of a nearby restaurant and the victim, who had previously visited Highball Lanes, returned to the building for medical assistance.

Two injured in Thursday night McDowell Road shooting

quote:

“Somebody just took it up on their own to want to target people last night for no apparent reason,” said Taylor. “I mean, we don’t bother nobody. We haven’t gotten into any confusion with anybody. So, I don’t know why they would want to hurt anyone that’s an innocent person.”

WLBT reached out to the Jackson Police Department for further information regarding the case but received no answer. Taylor said when the shooting finally ended, the suspects drove away like nothing happened. The unidentified suspects are presumed to still be at large.

We’ve seen how you handle the money, crime, etc for the last several decades. It’s not working so people that are tired of waiting for change are done waiting. Help or get out of the way. We are now in the get out of the way stage.

My first thought was how her head would have exploded if the follow up question would have been...."ok so what is the plan to correct this issue with this money?"

Blacks keep keeping themselves down by blaming whitey for everything. Until their stupidity and racism is called out, nothing will change. Crazy we keep letting it happen, but I guess whitey fixing things is racism.

Just saw the clip....crazy how racist that group is and not a single person in the media would call it out.

Think about how a white guy just got sent to jail for 3 yrs for carrying a confederate flag during a "protest" and these blatant racists can't even find a peep of being called out.

Nothing needs to be done. Jackson needs a clean slate and if it has to collapse then so be it. It’s headed there slowly, so just get it over with.

When white people were the majority in Jackson, that was white supremacy.

When white people were leaving Jackson to escape crime, that was economic racism and segregation.

When black people got to be the majority in Jackson, “leadership” fell way behind on road repairs and maintaining the water system, the cops stopped trying, crime skyrocketed, and that was again somehow the fault of white people.

When the white majority legislature is now trying to do something about crime in Jackson, that’s white supremacy.

I’m sure we all see the pattern. When I’m in a no-win situation, I leave that situation and go find a place where I can succeed. Which would be considered economic racism and segregation in Jackson, but at least it’s not white supremacy and that’s a win.

If they don’t want to be told how to spend the money they don’t have to take it.

Anything anyone does to attempt to curb the overwhelming criminal behavior enacted by an overwhelmingly large % of blacks is racist. Let the city burn, put the police on the interstate so commerce going thru Jackson is protected and let the idiots who choose to stay hire private police. Sooner or later we have to concede a large % of the population in unsalvageable, and of that % the majority is black.

I don't think either side is completely sure who controls how this $600-800 million will be spent. My understanding is that neither will control but a receiver and EPA will control it. Funny how the state considered this before and chose not to do it when there was no money. Now that this huge amount of money if available, the state thinks it's their responsibility to make this happen the right way. I don't trust either of the 3, but be sure to follow the money.
Not sure how I feel about the judge situation. My understanding is this won't pass the constitutional (Ms) test. I've not dug into that yet.
Of course it has to be all about race but the city is a joke, the city government is a joke, the people protesting are a joke so regardless of who does what, someone will surely try to make it fail because they didn't get their way.

Maybe if you were responsible, real adults wouldn’t have had to step in. But nope, racism is definitely why. The only reason for sure.

Jackson is such a shitehole
