This is actually in a suburban setting where there is plenty of cartel activity because it is an unincorporated area of Cook County.
I'll throw in my bet that it was a Hispanic.

I visited her H.S. (Genbrook South) back in the 90s. It was very upper class whites. Don't know if it's changed.

Seems odd that if they are still looking for leads, that they could be so certain it was an isolated incident. Maybe there was evidence at the scene that they are not sharing?
And yes, that is an upscale area (not sure about that apartment complex though). Murders not common at all. I know lots of people, family/friends, that live within a few miles of that area.
