Hegseth Plainly Explains To The NATO Members That Their Gravy Train Is Over

Hegseth plainly lays out the new expectations of NATO members. Using more sensitive verbiage towards the NATO members than they deserve, calls them out as being lazy, weak, and sluggards. Taking advantage of the US to provide for their security since WWII.
Hegseth makes it very clear, those days are over.

This video features remarks by U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth at a NATO Defense Ministers meeting in Brussels. The address focuses on his vision for "NATO 3.0," a strategy aimed at restructuring the alliance to return to its original core purpose as a strong, military-focused organization.
Key Themes and Highlights:
The Concept of NATO 3.0 (3:16 - 3:45): Hegseth describes this as a transformation back to "NATO 1.0," where European allies take the lead in their own conventional defense rather than relying on the United States as a dependency. He emphasizes a focus on "hard power" and "real deterrence."
Critique of NATO 2.0 (5:04 - 5:53): He characterizes the post-Cold War era as a period where the alliance drifted toward "distraction" (citing climate change and gender equity policies) and became an era of "free riding" and deindustrialization.
Defense Spending and Responsibilities (6:52 - 7:40, 12:31 - 13:00): Hegseth highlights the new standard of 5% of GDP for defense spending. He announces that future U.S. dues will be contingent on other countries meeting their defense targets, framing NATO as a "two-way street."
NATO 3.0 Review (11:29 - 13:30): He announces a six-month Department of War review of America's force posture and basing in Europe to ensure the alliance moves toward European leadership in defense.
Frustration with Recent Cooperation (9:32 - 10:40): Hegseth expresses sharp criticism of allies who denied the U.S. access, basing, or overflight for operations in the Middle East, calling the lack of support "shameful."
Contextual Note: The meeting, chaired by the NATO Secretary General, also addresses ongoing support for Ukraine through the "Pearl initiative" and progress on preventing Iranian nuclear advancement.

Remilitarized Europe could be fun

He should have limited the speech to 2 words.

After destroying the Iranian military, Secretary Hegseth is spanking NATO and taking away their lifeline!!

I totally agree. 1000%. But, you and I aren't in the position to set world policy.
This is the next best thing. I suppose....

The Iran event has solidified my opinion on NATO. Time for talk is over. Pull out, bring the equipment home, have the captain hang a three-finger salute as he closes the hatch on the last flight out.

I watch a Canadian podcaster and his exact words
"I wish Canada had the balls and confidence that America has"

I am okay with Trump giving me a call. How about you?

What sucks is the Mounties might show up at his house for even saying that.

Yeah we're focusing on our own military.
Nearly 160 sick with flu at US air force base after Hegseth ends mandatory vaccines
just give em some raw milk and they'll be right as rain

I bet we could safely reduce the federal income tax rate by 5% by leaving nato

Every time I've gotten the flu vax I've had to miss work with flu-like symptoms for a few days.

Correlation and causation anyone
1. The Military historically administered flu shots in the fall, not spring and summer.
2. Everyone going through basic training gets sick. (I had a sinus infection until the gas chamber— cleared it right up)
3. 160 people with the flu on a base with over 45,000 personnel is not a big deal.

But that is how the left works.
“Ever since hegseth ended the mandates, flu cases reached triple digits!”

I forgot to mention that the supplies were routinely mishandled (delivered improperly making them useless) and often delivered late.

So we are going to start a huge reduction in military spending, right?

Western Europe is just waiting out this administration. They know the next one will be more friendly to them.

At least until the Dems regain the reinstall, then we'll go back to being their private army.
