Live just 15 miles south of downtown Indianapolis and I can attest that the local USPS distribution center sucks! Delays have been a significant issue there. I believe it is going to be reviewed, whatever the hell good that will do.

Ordered a bunch of Arduino type gadgets 3 weeks ago, some from China and others from California..... China stuff arrived in a week.....STILL waiting on the ones shipped from Claif.
A lof of things i get overseas comes dhl. Unless it's coming from the UK it goes through royal mail to usps.
That usually takes longer than getting stuff from china, korea or hong kong.

For the most part, but there is nothing you can do about the main distribution center if you live in a decent sized town or city.

USPS has been straight up arse under his leadership. Costs are up and service is majorly declining. This is great news.

Indeed. Most of the problems come from the sorting facilities, not the local post offices. Some of the facilities lack sufficient sorting machines, and, if I remember correctly, Dejoy got rid of some of them making the problem worse. Whole org needs new leadership.

Remember when you could get a letter or card anywhere in the US inside of 3 days without fear of somebody tearing into it?
I do.
I do.

I’ve been watching my current package pingpong around the country try like someone purposely screwing with me.
This. I recently had a package arrive at my local distribution center, with an estimated delivery for the next day. It was then sent to Nashville for some reason, where it sat for two days before being sent back.

My wife mailed a check from an Atlanta metro area post office to Charlotte NC. It took ~25 days to arrive. It is a 4 hour drive from Post Office to Post Office. US Post Office is broken. It’s been getting progressively slower over the past year.

I’ve had to make two complaints about our carrier this past year for shoving packages that were too big to fit into our mailbox
Earlier this year I had to cut the cardboard box apart through the open mail slot door in order to get the contents of the package out. Then, I had to finish disassembling the box, while still inside my mailbox, like I was an employee at Planned Parenthood to get the cardboard packaging out.

Also don't pre-fund employee retirements 75 years in advance (pushed by a GOP Congress).

Stop asking for bailouts.
quote:
While it is tempting to blame USPS’ current fiscal troubles on the recession, pandemic and economic shutdowns, the US Postal Service has been experiencing significant revenue declines long before the pandemic. From 2007 through 2019, USPS lost $77 billion, with declines in mail volume helping keep it in the red for years.
Additionally, USPS has $120 billion in unfunded pension and other post-employment benefits (OPEB) liabilities. These unfunded liabilities represent retirement benefits that have been promised to workers that will eventually need to be paid.
quote:
The Postal Service’s OPEB fund, which is the retiree health care portion of promised benefits, is only 44 percent funded and has $70 billion in unfunded liabilities.
These sizeable unfunded liabilities and continued revenue declines make it apparent that Congress’ proposed $25 billion bailout wouldn’t begin to fix the long-term debt that USPS has amassed
quote:
The second piece of legislation, the Postal Service Financial Improvement Act of 2019, would allow a portion of the OPEB plan’s assets to be invested in index funds.
OMG, index funds. It sounds like we're trying to put a family on Alpha Centauri. From a different article:
quote:
The U.S. Senate voted overwhelmingly on Tuesday to provide the long loss-making Postal Service (USPS) with about $50 billion in financial relief over a decade and require its future retirees to enroll in a government health insurance plan.
In a rare display of bipartisanship for a narrowly divided Congress, the 79-19 vote follows approval by the U.S. House of Representatives in early February and sends the bill to President Joe Biden for his signature.
Struggling with diminishing mail volumes despite having to deliver to a growing number of addresses, USPS has reported net losses of more than $90 billion since 2007. Last month, it booked a quarterly net loss of $1.5 billion.
Stop looking for (R) excuses to shitty fricking postmasters.

I haven't gotten an Entergy Bill in two months. I have to go online to see payments.
TBF, that could be Entergy incompetence as much as USPS.

I've talked to my postmaster about the slow service over the past couple years and to say he doesn't like this Dejoy is an understatement.
My postmaster seems to be one of the few in USPS that wants to do a good job.

This dipshite did nothing to improve things. His incompetence made things worse. He needs to pay the American people back his salary.

Dejoy must've gone out of the job.
