Have you ever wondered why young poor people rarely leave for somewhere else?

I know it isn't possible in many cases, but I've offen wondered why poor people tend to stay in the same impoverished town and never leave?
Sure, their financial situation might not change if they moved, but the scenery could.
Why die looking at dirty city streets when you can die looking at mountains?
I mean, how much does a bus ticket cost?

I'm down with donating bus tickets to take them all to California.
Who's with me?

Most of them would rather spend their money on drugs and alcohol than a bus ticket.

It's sounds like you're depressed that you are living in the same trailer park your parents and grandparents grew up in.

I wonder this about not just poor people, but middile class people that stay where they are. especially in the state of Louisiana.

many of them literally never think far enough ahead to plan past knowing mama's got some noodles and cheese at home down the street
they are lazy enough to realize if they leave home, they have no clue what they would do to churn out one meal a day

It's all they know.
Hard to get up the courage (and resources) to venture into the unknown, just basic human nature.

I suppose if you are young and poor then you may feel like you need the support of your family and friends around you.
Probably don’t have any networking. It takes some balls to just strike out on your own. And some, even though they are poor, may still like their hometown and their family and friends.

Ha ha. Nope. I've actually been to many beautiful places in the U.S. and that's what makes me ask the question.
If you are living in a crime ridden, drug infested city or depressing rural town, why not do everything in your powers to move?

When the alternative is an early death or a depressed crime and drug infested environment, it's seems an easy choice and not one requiring much courage.

Are you a young and poor deadbeat who has never worked a day in your life and has no intention of doing so, preferring instead to live off the government teat?

Maybe it's because entitlement programs pay them to stay right where they are? If entitlement programs didn't exist, poor people needing work would follow the jobs.

Low IQ people are poor decision makers.

And yet, it doesn't happen.
I mean some of these people you're talking about do not have the money to cover their monthly liabilities and you think they have the resources to move? What you're saying sounds good on paper, but that's about it, doesn't mean it's realistic.

those small towns are traps. thankfully I took the free ticket out of one, but I could imagine being stuck there if it weren't for the military.

It is perplexing indeed. A lot of folks just don’t have what it takes to make that kinda change

Both those living in crimes infested cities and poor rural towns, yes.

all cities are crime infested. you gotta take the good with the bad.
Take the two cities I split time between. Augusta, and Charleston. Both beautiful and shitty at the same time.
