So you truly believe that every parent who homeschools does so with the best intentions for their child and strives everyday to give them the greatest education possible. You can’t be that naive or stupid.

The left can't stand the fact they may not be allowed to brainwash even 4% of the population.

While that’s true, it seems like every other person that’s homeschooling is either some fundamentalist or an anti-vaccer. Very few cases are about legitimate education.

They're also after private health insurance and charities. Yes, charities. Next, private retirement accounts.

I believe that a greater percentage of homeschooling moms give their best effort every day than public school teachers.

We homeschooled for a while because we can easily do better than any public school and most private schools.

We have too many lawyers making rules.

We have too many count like this Harvard Bitch with a voice.

STFU and make my sons some sammiches, Harvard count.

And frick the Ivy League...trash.

There is a right way to do it. I have a long time friend who married a teacher. When they had kids they decided to homeschool them. His wife quite teaching for a living and just focused on their kids. They are a member of some homeschool group where they meet up and do activities and field trips with other home school kids. So, it can be great if it’s done right, I just don’t think it’s easy to do it right.

His kids are extremely well educated (I’m jealous that I could not provide that to my kids the way they did) they are very social and immediately fit in with other kids.

Do you believe every parent sends their kid to school because its the best option. You cant be that stupid. Most do it because they have to due to both parents working.

Ohh so you changed it to a greater percentage...I see.

I agree with your point. The greater percentage of parents do homeschool because that is what is best for their child and the child flourishes. My original point was that not all parents choose to homeschool for the righteous reasons. I agree with the author on that point. In some cases its not what’s best for the child, not even close. The percentage of parents who homeschool their kids because they are too lazy, drugged out, don’t have it together enough to bring their child to school or get them on the bus, the child is too out of control to behave at school, and etc. is growing every year. These parents choose to homeschool because it’s a lot easier for them honestly. No schedule or routine, no fighting with their to do homework, no emails or calls from teachers telling them their child couldn’t behave. It’s easier to just keep them at home and claim they are being homeschooled.

Then surely you have some rational reason to dislike it besides an anecdote.

This isn’t 1% of homeschooled kids.

Sure, a lot of moms (not really a lot - but one or two a year in a school system?) pull their kids from school for a month and say they’re going to homeschool them. Then they re-enroll, usually after they move into another district and wait for a teacher to report them for abuse or neglect and then they “homeschool” for a month or move again. None of that is part of homeschooling. That’s a broken state-run social services system.

Well, as disappointing as it may be for some of you, this coronavirus is going to provide some proof to a lots of parents that home schooling might be a decent way to go.

I find it interesting that there is still the idea that all home schooling is bad, given the seemingly infintestimal increase in resources available for home school teachers over the last ten years.

The kids being homeschooled down the street are in lots of team activities, and the mom is in a group of women who exchange lesson plans. The kids spend the late afternoons playing with the other kids in the neighborhood. The family is a tad hippyish but totally at ease socially.

A good home school mom can accomplish in three hours what it takes all day at school to accomplish. Persons with resources can provide travel and social and voluntary options for high school age kids that are the equal to a high school.

That has been the case for every one of the thousands of homeschoolers I've met the past three decades, yes.

My wife homeschools our kid, she just tested about 4 grade levels higher on every subject. They are in a bunch of groups to socialize, learn together, and grow. Its been the best decision for us.

It’s becoming a part of the homeschool system, especially with junior high and high school kids. A small part that’s growing every year. I wish it wasn’t happening but it is.

I’m 100% certain that’s not the case in public schools. There are some real shitbags that become teachers and don’t give two thoughts about other people’s kids (their students). I say that as someone who’s mom taught for 34 years. Some people shouldn’t be trusted to train 3 puppies, much less teach 20 humans.
