I agree, ever meet a real home schooled kid?

I was in college when I met and actually talked to a homeschooled kid. Was the strangest kid I ever met..

Kid had zero social skills...

Does public schooling guarantee good social skills?

I I know plenty of public school or private school people who don’t have the greatest social skills. Personally I think it has more to do with a persons personality, upbringing rather than if someone went to a homeschool or not.

There are plenty of “awkward” kids in middle school who will be social outcasts and not learn any social skills. This may not happen in a homeschool environment. Sure someone may lack social skills or have a personality that doesn’t do well socially I would imagine in a homeschool environment they would be more accepted than in a public school setting. Maybe I’m wrong.

I thought for sure she'd say homeschooling is racist.

She does bring up a few good points.
I don’t agree with outlawing homeschooling but there needs to be more accountability within the homeschool system.

this is too perfect. Your extreme lack of self-awareness and inability to reason is both funny and sad. It is, unfortunately, what I’ve come to expect from public school teachers.

As a disclaimer. My kids attend public school but if school was miserable for my kids I would homeschool.

That's a great philosophy. I'm in a reality based life and sometimes its painful. I wish I could just change the environment too. I see no brick wall on the horizon for anyone living with a philosophy like that. On this planet at least..

and even if they were, are they qualified to do so? Teachers go through years of education to be trained at what they do. We can’t devalue that by letting every parent who thinks they can try

Most homeschoolers i know use online suplimental coursework for areas they are not comfortable teaching, math and chemistry are common, Kahan Academey is also a frequently used resource. In the suburbs study clustors are common, a group will meet with someone that is well qualified in a particular area such as a parent with a engineering degree for physics. People seem to have the impression that homeschooling is just a parent, a book, and some pencils and paper isolated from the world. This is 2020 all the knowledge of humanity is a few key strokes away.

Lack of parent involvement is the problem with public schools, not bad teachers. Pretending that public school teachers don’t have oversight is laughably incorrect.

GTFO, public school teacher.
Which state are you from so I can cite to you the percentage of teachers fired for cause in an average year?

There is no “one” problem with public schools. There’s 50. And shitty teachers with tenure is in the top 5.

We home schooled two very successful children for 8 years under a BESE approved home study program.

I can tell you first hand that this woman is lying.

My son is a very well paid white collar employee of one of America's largest corporations. He receives lucrative offers for employment weekly from other major, well established companies.

My daughter was an honor student at a Louisiana University for 4 years and graduated with honors.

However, neither of them are infected with the leftist ideology.

My original point was that not all parents choose to homeschool for the righteous reasons.
This nunya business. Nor the government's.

The percentage of parents who homeschool their kids because they are too lazy, drugged out, don’t have it together enough to bring their child to school or get them on the bus, the child is too out of control to behave at school, and etc. is growing every year.
Link?

These parents choose to homeschool because it’s a lot easier for them honestly. No schedule or routine, no fighting with their to do homework, no emails or calls from teachers telling them their child couldn’t behave. It’s easier to just keep them at home and claim they are being homeschooled.

As someone working in public schools this lady and that article and picture of the kids locked in the house make my blood boil.

I just get disgusted and angry reading that nonsense.

Bless those that home school. Good for them.

True. But not every plebeian can teach either. Most adult Americans don't even understand basic math.

It's amazing that people like her are for "choice" if it involves ramming forceps into the skull of a partially delivered baby, but a kids' education?!? NOES WAYSSS!!!

I think you should be able to school your child ever how you see fit, but let's face it, most home-schooled kids are weird AF...
