Dems are socialist at heart, so that's what they believe in. They want all of these nice things, and programs, but want everyone else to pay for it. It's been stated a million times here, but elections have their consequences.
Unfortunately for Texas, you have a huge influx of California liberals moving in, plus millions of illegals having anchor babies as fast as they can. Long term as much as I hate admit it, my home state will go blue..

Harris county blows. Montgomery county is where it’s at

We need this money for midnight basketball and slam poetry.z. And keeping the 40,000 workers they probably have.

how about these assholes take an 8% paycut since not one of them missed a paycheck while they made rules that ruined taxpayer's livelihoods.

The teachers need a pensions bump geeez it's only this one time

It’s infuriating. Turner and Hidalgo crowing about “sacrificing together” while they don’t take an ounce of a hit from this thing.

And why I live in Montgomery, just across the line.
Posted on 8/7/20 at 3:42 pm to NIH
Seems as though they could decrease taxes as I am sure services they provide right now are reduced.

Turner and Hidalgo are pieces of crap. Just rolled out this multi million dollar rent subsidy
$15 mil for rent
And then soak homeowners for the bill.
The election can’t come fast enough. I’d crawl through broken glass to get rid of these thieves.

That would be lower than the annual 10%they do a lot of the time.
They are talking about raising the tax rate by 8%. They will also continue to raise your property value by the 10% they are allowed.
What is so shitty is how they are doing it. Normally, they would need to put it to a vote. However, they are using the clause that allows an increase without a vote during a 'disaster'. They are saying Covid is a disaster.
Now you know why they refuse to let this shite die....have to milk it for all its worth.
Just imagine what this will do to businesses barely hanging on....it will be the final nail in the coffin. Then, they'll see less tax revenue due to lower property values and less sales tax revenue.
fricking idiots.

This is part of the plan. Only national businesses will be left. Further pushing out the middle man.

Fort Bend Independent
They were going to try this in Fort Bend but got a ton of backlash on it. They are allowed to do it since the law/amendment/what-ever-the-correct-term has not been adjusted to the 3.5% per state guidelines.

In EBR they weren’t rolling back millages when things were good. Now property is losing value, I bet they don’t reassess.
Bingo. Harris County commercial real estate owners are going to appeal their property values in a heartbeat, and they should. Everything but industrial properties are going to be hammered as soon as CRE sales activity picks back up.
