I thought you NTers thought Trump was a nonstop liar. Why is this the thing you believe him about?

Sounds like a man with a lot of experience with this sort of thing.

I lost two long-time friends to TDS in recent years and am glad for it.

The appropriate response is always to point and laugh when this happens.

Someone posted the common FB meme recently about how you can save money on Christmas Presents by talking about politics on FB.

I responded that it wouldn't work for me this year because it already worked in 2016.

My friends list was like a fricking leaky boat.

I've had that happen to me and I didn't even vote for Trump. I left it alone, if someone's that shallow I'm better off without them

It’s the same as someone saying, “l can’t go to that Catholic Church with you, l’m a born again Christian.” They are afraid they might see or hear something that might make them question the narrative they’ve been taught. They aren’t confident enough in their own beliefs.

Eh. It happens. Doesn't seem like a big loss.

Hell, when I was living overseas, I had a Muslim co-worker tell me he didn't like me just because I was an American. This was right after 9/11. In 2004, another co-worker stopped talking to me after she found out I was going to vote for G.W. Bush. She was really pissed that I also got to vote for John Howard (who she also hated) in the Australian election that year, too.

Can't say I shed any tears over either of them.

Yes. TDS has sufferers spurning parents and children. It’s a very serious psychological condition.

This is the truth. A rational person would not have this reaction. It's the TDS talking.

Don’t care what any of our resident lefties say, the two parties aren’t anywhere close to equal when it comes to divisiveness, dangerous rhetoric, or tolerance of those that think differently.

Find me ONE example of a conservative telling a liberal that they can’t talk anymore because of their political affiliation, and that’ll be the first.

I'm going through something similar. An old friend, a guy who was one of my groomsmen, he's always been a little left of center but it kicked up a notch when he and his wife moved to Austin years ago. Since Trump's election though it's really taken a turn for the worse.

Just today we are messaging back and forth with our usual banter when he brings up that he is getting a bad vibe, as if society is in a bad spot and it's building.

My response: "The rhetoric has to come down on both sides. Playing the "well so and so first said" game is an endless circle that gets nowhere.
Just. fricking. Stop."

Pretty even-handed right? Apparently he doesn't want to hear it unless it starts and stops at "Trump's fault".

His response: "Rhetoric isn't the same as sending bombs.
We cannot continue to have a leader that refers to our citizens as "enemy of the people." It's not healthy or normal.
We need better than this."

I bring up comments from the Left, his response is basically that it's Trump's fault since he is President.

I respond that Trump is playing the same game the Dems are and that you can't call for one side to de-escalate, it has to be both or nothing.

His response: "ok man
We won't ever have this conversation again. You're too far committed to your vote.
I get it."

So by looking at the bigger picture instead of just looking for a scapegoat, I'm the one that's "too far committed"? TDS is real.

Over the past 6 months outcomes like this have begun happening more often (where nothing less than "yeah, frick Trump" or some derivation is acceptable). The last time was 3 weeks ago and I didn't hear from him for 2 weeks after that.

There's an inevitability here that eventually we will stop talking altogether and it basically comes down to my unwillingness to narrow the scope of what I see just to join him in Trump bashing.

You mean JFK? Here's a few. The Nazi chick was intriguing. He was also said to have had a touch of syphilis.

Ted apparently had a thing about drowning his, so I doubt there are many records available...
