Why?

I could see where someone posting optimism on a Southeastern football based message board would be quite the national problem. Thanks for policing that for us

It’s being used in hospitals here in Baton Rouge. Early reports are mixed
If patients are very bad off it doesn’t seem as effective as patients that are severe but not life threatening when they start it.
Kind of common sense to me but that’s from ER docs working in BR.

It is funny, and sad at the same time, that these deranged libs are rooting against a cure...no one is suggesting that this has been scientifically vetted. The anecdotal evidence, however, is significantly strong for optimism

This seems in line with the guidance they are putting out to doctors. Patients need to be started on Chloroquine early. If the patient is in later stages of the virus, Remdesevir has shown to have better outcomes.

If this drug combo knocks the hell out of CV, score 1 for President Trump's common sense and 0 for Dr. Fauci's medical knowledge.
Then again, I don't trust anybody who once sent a love letter to Hildabeast.

For one, he isn't acting. Second, his dreams of mass deaths to get rid of Trump is falling apart like Russia, Mueller, and impeachment.

So it basically works like tamiflu does in that you have to start it early
Not really surprising or anything that should be a cause for concern
Gotta get tested and start it early

My wife has been taking Plaquenil for over a year due to health issues she has. We made sure to get her script refilled last week when the talk around hydroxychloroquine started up.

I've heard a similar, singular, anecdotal situation. Older man, on ventilator for over a week, been on meds for over a week. No improvement, and they are expecting a long term ventilator situation.

I think tamiflu is anti-viral.
I've heard that the hydroxychloriquine drug is effective because it somehow suppresses the body's immune response that causes the lungs to fill with fluid (which is what is killing people).
I'm no doctor, so anyone who knows more please correct.

The real question is did this med work in China and other countries? Unless Chinese are biologically different I think we will get the same results. China is our lab.

So hcq also has antiviral in vitro effects. It prevents the virus entry into the cells this it can't replicate.
It also has immunomodulatory effects of being an anti inflammatory.
Now some feel that hcq works best after clearly identifying the threat and then going to work. For this reason, hcq prophylaxis may not be beneficial if it inhibits the bodies response more than it inhibits viral replication.
And zithromax also prevents getting infections on top of this, and is also an immunomodulating drug with anti viral effects. Hopes this helps.

Information from China is far from accurate, so whatever benefit we were going to get from it has probably been realized.
We should be getting VERY close to getting results from our own data (even if it's not the double blind studies yet).

If getting it early is the trick, then testing people becomes more important. Get tested...if you have it, regardless of symptoms, take the drug. Is it preventative as well?
Posted on 3/24/20 at 10:47 am to rumproast
You will not get this treatment if you are not severe so it really doesn’t matter. You can be tested positive and if you are not experiencing severe symptoms you will just be quarantined until you get better or get worse and then need it.

Not the point. You have to start it early or the drug can’t really do it’s job.
The fact HQ won’t bring people on the brink of death back isn’t a concern or surprising. But if you get tested and start it immediately it will chop Covid off at the knees.

Take test...45 minutes doc gets results and calls in cocktail.... 6 days later cured.
