Because declaring an end to the war as is and letting Iran keep Hormuz and the regime in control is an epic epic epic failure. Our military has performed AMAZINGLY and to just say ok we’re done is a slap in the face to them.

Ahh more panician melts. Love seeing you losers cry about Trump.

Why not pressure them?
They benefit from us kicking the shite outta Iran. Let the share some of the load.

IF we do not get substantial assistance from those nations who disproportionally benefit from the products going thru the Strait then he should tariff the hell out of them to help pay for our defense of keeping it open and keeping their population free from the Irani nuclear threat.

I called President Trump for some clarity on this post. He says the U.S. is not pulling assets in and around the Strait of Hormuz yet: “At some point I will, not quite yet, but countries have to come in and take care of it. Iran has been decimated, but they're going to have to come in and do their own work."
Trump says the U.S. WILL be there, but he’s frustrated that other countries are not doing more.
He says there’s no “real threat” anymore:
“Let them come up and take it. They didn't want to give a hand to anybody. NATO is terrible, and they're all terrible. So if they want oil, come up and grab it. There's no real threat, there's no substantial threat because the country has been decimated.”
In the meantime, gas prices here at home hit $4/gallon on average. Trump says,
"They'll drop when we leave, when it's over."
I asked when that will be.
"We are ahead of schedule actually, in terms of what we have done. They've got no military might anymore. They are down on everything they had. They're a mess. I would say we are two weeks ahead of schedule.”
Trump says “not much” more has to happen between now and declaring victory, pointing out regime change is a “big factor” :
“We want to clean up some ends…We've had total regime change. These are different people than anyone has ever heard of before, and frankly they've been more reasonable. So, we've had total regime change beyond what anyone thought possible. It's a big factor."
One of Trump’s main war objectives is to rid Iran of its nuclear capabilities. I asked if removing its enriched uranium is necessary to declare a victory:
“I don’t I even think about it. I just know that, you know, that’s so deeply buried it’s gonna be very hard for anybody. And we – we’ve watched it for – you know, since the attack, we’ve watched it. And at least I think finally people admit it was obliteration. It’s down there deep. And they haven’t been able to do it. You know, even without a war they haven’t been able to do it. So it’s pretty – it’s pretty – it’s pretty safe. But, you know, we’ll make a determination.”

SO we break it, than go home and tell others to fix the mess we created. We never learn our lesson.

He wants the strait to remain closed so the world buys oil from America instead. I get that.
But bombing the frick out of Iran, losing some American service members at bombed bases, then cutting and running while allowing the strait to remain closed is absolute bullshite, and every single one of you knows it too. If this was a democrat administration threatening to do this, every single thread on this board would be about it.
Trump better be bluffing, because if he really does check out, leaving the strait closed, that's his legacy and he wouldn't recover from it.
This isn't even entertaining the irony of him running on ending the Ukraine war and not getting involved since it's "not our war" then going in and bombing the ever living shite out of Iran and begging the world for help in reopening the strait. He was right on Ukraine during the campaign, he's dead wrong it Ukraine now and he's wrong if he leaves without making sure the strait is reopened.

It’s immoral to create a big problem for your friends and then tell them to fix it while you take your ball and go home.

the straight has nothing to do with being a threat to USA. Seems reasonable to not make it a priority.

Trump highlights un and nato uselessness as something for America to be involved with

Regime change was never the main objective for the US.
And we've completely destroyed their most of their offensive and defensive capabilities.
As far as Hormuz, there's always going to be suicide drones hidden somewhere in Iran that they can launch periodically to disrupt civilian passage. They don't have control of anything except continuing their terrorist strike and hide tactics.

Virtually every expert says it would take years (and thousands of US lives) to fully "win" this war in the way you are describing.
Trump ain't got that kinda time or political capital.
This was the biggest mistake of DJTs political career but hopefully he doesnt make it worse throwing away more young lives.
