The family of the Missouri girl who has been charged with beating 16-year-old Kaylee Gain into unconsciousness says she is the real victim and had been “bullied” before the caught-on-video assault.

The 15-year-old’s aunt told Daily Mail that her niece — described as an honor student at Hazelwood East High School — was defending herself during the viral March 8 fight in Spanish Lakes, Missouri.

The accused attacker’s loved ones are asking people to show “compassion” for the teen and are seeking $150,000 in donations toward her legal defense.

The sickening video of the brawl showed Gain being repeatedly slammed on the pavement, leaving her with a life-threatening skull fracture, according to her family.

Nearly two weeks after the beating, Gain has yet to regain consciousness.

Speaking to DailyMail.com her aunt confirmed that she was an honor roll student at Hazelwood East High School with an exemplary record and was 'defending herself' during the fight with Kaylee.

The family has created a Change.org petition, calling on the St Louis Juvenile Court to show 'compassion' to the schoolgirl, DailyMail.com can reveal.

Her aunt said Kaylee was not being bullied by her niece and urged people to donate to help with her legal bills as the situation wasn't exactly what it seemed.

'If people want to donate, they should give it on the CashApp, not the petition,' she added.

'We set up a GoFundMe but it was taken down in hours, we have a lawyer. The family are all together and we will get through this.'

The fundraiser, which was removed by GoFundMe, said the teen was 'unfairly' painted as a bully and that she is the victim 'in a complicated situation'.

It raised nearly $3,000 before being taken down.

The page was set up on March 16, begging for help with her legal defense, as her family claim that they have been targeted with 'racist death threats'.

But the funds will now be returned to those who donated, with officials at GoFundMe confirming that they removed the webpage hours after it was created.

In a statement to DailyMail.com a GoFundMe spokeswoman said: 'I can confirm the fundraiser was removed and all donors have been refunded.

'GoFundMe's Terms of Service explicitly prohibit fundraising for the legal defense of an alleged violent crime.'

But the girl's family says she 'deserves amnesty and a chance at forgiveness', adding that her 'fair trial hearing is being swayed'.

Crowd finding is a marvelous way to separate fools from their money.

There's a sucker born every minute,.

Is there a GoFundMe that goes towards making sure she spends the rest of her life behind bars> I'd contribute to that.

Let’s get this young lady some funds. Education and funding is the way out of violence and crime.

That means get an advantage and remove yourself from the situation, not get an advantage and continue to bash someone's head against the concrete in a fit of rage.

Sorry, she is guilty.

Some folks are better off being permanently removed from society... Others from sucking up extra O2...

“I’m defending myself!” I cry, as I sit on her chest and bash her head repeatedly into the concrete.

Yep, an actual "scholar" and "honor student" doesn't wear a stripper outfit to school.
