yes, the kids had no choice in coming to America...yet they can't get a free pass. I would let them stay, but they'd have to get in line with all the others already in the process of trying to get legal immigration status. We can do more to mainstream the vetting system so it doesn't take as long to get immigration status worked out.

Democrats will settle for nothing less.

It's the future of their party.

While trying to have empathy for DACA kids as other humans, what message does that send to all of the people who have spent their time, efforts and resources in legally immigrating here? What about the tens of thousands (millions?) on the waiting list to even have a shot to come here?

They get what they deserve. No empathy for them.

Deportation for any and all who have been in trouble with the law, or illegally received government benefits meant for Americans.

Before someone says that's too harsh, remember that is forgiving the thousands spent educating each one, along with the thousands in healthcare spent on each one.

If they've received government benefits, their parents have proven at least twice that they don't respect the country that they now want their children to be a citizen of. If they have been in trouble with the law, it shows the lesson of disrespecting this country taught by their parents, was absorbed.

That should knock down the list to a more manageable number of worthy applicants, who can now get in line behind all those already doing it the right way.

I’m so tired of hearing that they had no choice. What fault is that of mine? Are we in turn supposed to reward them? Legal status or citizenship is as much a win for their parents who brought them here illegally as it is for the so called dreamers.

Green Cards. Not citizenship. No voting rights. They can apply for citizenship just as any Green Card holder can.

I don't know the solution, but I don't feel good about our government making promises, then re-negging on them because of a change in leadership.

The next bargaining chip will be full citizenship. 2028-"You do want to extend the Trump tax cuts right? Well this is part the bill." We all know Dems will use this every chance they get to play the party opposing them as heartless.

For DACA only. The problem is Obama made a deal with them albeit through an E.O. The DACA people willingly compiled so I think there should be a solution there although I want it limited to basically Green Card status. I do not want voter enfranchisement for DACA

Full amnesty and path to citizenship coupled with real immigration reform (e-verification, end chain migration, etc) seems to be the only way this gets ironed out.

Which is why Obama should have faced impeachment for the unconstitutional action that was DACA, number one. The POS president decided to make his own immigration law, with his pen and his phone.

Number two, DACA stands for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. Nobody promised they were good to go, free and clear. We just didn't deport them immediately, like we should have. The action was deferred until a later date. That date is here.

Amnesty has to be on the table. The path to citizenship will be the sticking point. I'm sure the Dems want it now (bc votes) but that is very unfair to those who waited their turn around the world.

They should have a path to citizenship but at the back of the line.

And none of this without serious immigration reform to make sure this never has to happen again.
