Sounds like he has a wife who is an American citizen, so he’s good. He’s just been lazy.

Did you get to ask him why he put it off for so long?
For 1 it is very expensive. The guy in the story sounds like a productive guy. We should make it easy and cheap for people like this to become citizens.

Is that the requirement for a green card?
No, but with that status you should be able to get one.

Ran into a college friend over the weekend and we got on the topic of ICE. He is Hispanic but you can only tell by appearance.
Anyone from Auburn gets clemency because we inherently make the country a better place.

Do what Pandy Fackler would do.
Call..
1-866-DHS-2-ICE.
It's your civic duty. Pandy said so.

Baw only wants to be a citizen now that there is an administration actually taking care of business
He’s gotta go, hopefully the wife and kids join him. Children of illegals are illegals, they are not American
If I overstayed my visa in Japan and had kids there, would that make them Japanese? It’s ridiculous

He has enough time and money for college and starting a family.
He doesn’t sound like a fruit picker living in a clown car apartment.
He willfully took the easy road... and now that road is closed.

I agree with this. If people are hard working productive people and aren't causing any problems then the path to citizenship shouldn't be expensive. I don't know about "easy" but it shouldn't be costly.

Theres an attitude among way too many Hispanics that citizenship doesn’t really mean anything, or shouldn’t. And this is encouraged by the Democrats. Because they DONT want citizenship to be important.

Republicans should do this. They will be future voters. If republicans make a move in that direction, democrats will then oppose it.

The dysfunction of our legal immigration system is part of the reason why you have so many illegals. Mexican coworker / buddy of mine is now naturalized as of several years ago and you're literally talking a decade or more and tens of thousands of dollars. You even have to travel to the US embassy or consulate in your home country from time to time during your citizenship process, it's a PITA. Trying to stay legal during the entire process can just add to the frustration.

I'm all about deporting people who aren't supposed to be here, but I wish it came with the caveat of easier citizenship. Run background checks and everything else you want to do to these people but get them on the rolls and paying taxes.

Call the ICE tipline. He's got to go back.

Disagree. If someone can’t spend $700 bucks to be a citizen, I question how much value they are bringing
“Bring us your poor” only works when there isn’t a giant welfare net

Took a former co-worker’s family 8 years to gain citizenship coming from Uruguay. That’s too fricking long. Why more than one year?

Has an Aryan wife. He still got to go back.
