quote:I'm very looking forward to the pro-union UAW dude spouting off how superior the union worker is to the non-union worker. Meanwhile, Toyota, Honda, and Hyundai can't make cars fast enough.
They’re going to hire non-union workers and then the union workers will bitch and moan about how unfair it is that Ford looked out for its best interests

Funny how management likes to forget the sacrifice that they asked the workers to take once the the profits start to build up Then they can't afford anything.
Management at GM seems to forget US taxpayers saved their asses whether they wanted to or not.

And ? Would that matter? They are paid better than any other non professional job and better than most all self employed or small business owners. They make about 100 per hour now
No they are not the highest paid hourly workers.
The facility I work for has hourly workers
making 180k per year.
With benefits comparable to UAW
This is a highly profitable business.
Net profits of 150M
It’s union labor.
600 employees These are facts. I’m a shareholder.

UAW baws are eventually going to frick themselves out of a job when the big 3 pack it up and move to a southern, free to work state.
Unless something has changed, and I am absolutely sure it has not, part of the contract is no non-union plants in the US or Canada. They build a new one it's automatically UAW.

Bidenomics: We could use a scapegoat for what’s coming in 2024.
UAW: I’m your huckleberry

I just want to know how Japanese automakers can make a quality product, pay workers well, AND build the cars here in the US but the Big 3 somehow has a problem with doing either of those three.
nb4 smooth brains think I'm backing the Unions.

they want a shorter work week and a 38% wage increase.
Sounds like the Let's Go Brandon plan has infected the union leaders.

And the U.S. Chamber of Commerce blamed the Biden administration for the work stoppages.
“The UAW strike and indeed the ‘summer of strikes’ is the natural result of the Biden administration’s ‘whole of government’ approach to promoting unionization at all costs,” according to a statement Friday by Suzanne P. Clark, chamber president and CEO

The strike is unprecedented — the long tradition has been for the UAW to only strike one company, with other companies following what the struck company and the UAW agree to.
But this strike is aimed at all three – General Motors, Ford, and Stellantis

This isn’t going to end the way UAW wants. People aren’t going to sympathize with their bat shite crazy demands. Also cars and trucks would go up 15% to cover tge costs.

Good for them. I can't believe all the bleeding hearts around here for these big businesses

Some people have such an extreme hatred of unions that they simp for billion dollar corporations.
The union demands are dumb. But the Big 3 are all dogshit companies.

Management at GM also forgets that UAW is one of their largest single shareholders as well. They are in bed with them

I'd rather Fotd workers get the money than Ford keep subsidizing the superwoke Ford Foundation

I guess you are one of those that thinks the common worker is more knowledgeable and valuable than the CEO

Wasn't this a big reason most auto manufacturing left the US?
Ridiculous union demands?
Unions were a good thing back in the day, but they aren't necessary today.

Ford Motor revenue for the twelve months ending June 30, 2023 was $169.819B, a 14.72% increase year-over-year.
Of course you don’t understand financials.

Ford Motor annual gross profit for 2020 was $14.392B, a 32.14% decline from 2019.
quote:
Ford Motor annual net income for 2020 was $-1.279B, a 2821.28% decline from 2019.
They were losing money.
Revenues doesn’t include the cost of running the company.

Why not reward the people who built the cars?
The other reply from dgnx6 covered a part of this very well, he said:

I'll add - even if Ford's profits had been increasing, that's not how it works ('sharing' with employees).
A business, to stay in business and to keep providing jobs and products to customers, pays only as much as the market dictates for components and labor. And you do the same thing. Do you go to the grocery store, and say "I make 30% more than the average American, so I should be charged 30% more at checkout"? No, if you find one store has better prices/value than another, you spend your money there. Companies do the same.
If they can get workers for $X/hour, they are not going to pay 30% more, just because they are making a profit.

I could be very wrong.
But we should not have baile them out and let them go bankrupt. Then Re start with no unions.
The top 15 selling cars that retain value are not even American made.
