Depends, are the late night talk show hosts telling me to be ok with it?

Normal ppl can just use a new phone and e-mail account. It’s almost like a leader or president’s words have a lot more meaning or something.

I’m sort of stunned ppl are still more worried about his Twitter account than the damn cop who was bludgeoned with a fire extinguisher... or the air force veteran who was shot in the neck... or the recovering drug addict who found newfound purpose in Q-drops and the right-wing world before being trampled. Very strange.

It’s a bullshite excuse to justify their support of censorship. Especially when competing platforms like Parler are being shut down

Those were the good old days. They bitched about the Koch boys while the Koch boys were doing what they wanted.

I really wish that I didn't use Facebook. But a large percentage of business is generated from my Facebook business page. Any suggestions on how to replace it? I'd love not to use them

their stock would plummet once regulated.

I used to think that businesses, large and small, were pro-Republican because Republicans were supposedly more about the free market and Democrats were more about regulations. But I’ve come to realize that the larger or well established companies are pro-regulation.

They have enough money to spend on lobbyists to influence the passage of the “right kind” of regulations; smaller startups do not. The regulations they favor creates hurdles for new competitors to enter the market and can also reduce their liability by setting low fines for violations.

Big tech would benefit from regulation. Any complaint or lawsuit would go through the same judicial system that refused to address potential voter fraud or, worse, would be adjudicated by a partisan group like the FCC.

No not at all , I’ve never once purchased anything myself off of Amazon , I f do not walk in Walmart. I have an iPhone but outside here and Parler I don’t do any social media . Hen at all possible do allow your money go into their pocket. There are plenty of access to products without helping them hurt you

If you think Twitter and Facebook are the internet, you don't really know what the internet is.

Trump should not have been banned while he is a world leader but once he is out of office, sure. You don't have a right to use Twitter.

And as for Apple /Google, on Apple you have an argument because if you can't be on the app store you ar eout of luck so that is a little monopolistic.

On Google, you have no grounds in my opinion becuaee it is very easy to make an app work on Android without being listed on the play store.

It is similar to you can't force Walmart to sell your items.

So this is the quagmire of America as a whole. Yes I do believe it is their right to discriminate against people for their political views. This falls into the same category as baking the cake and burning the flag. They are not violating anyone’s personal rights or liberties.

Arent twitter/Facebook taking substantial tax (or other) benefits by declaring themselves “town squares” or “open forums” where they aren’t generally supposed to regulate posts?

I don’t worry about such a world because it wouldn’t happen that way it never does, just look at history. But if your solution is to give the government control, how is that better? Twitter/Facebook will be replaced at some point the government not so much

You're late to the party.

The time for you to try and raise public awareness for violence in the streets was months ago with radical left wing groups and their media mouthpieces were normalizing it, and calling anyone who critiqued it racist.

Its much easier to hide your true identity and spew BS from moms couch on TD.

Most FB accounts represent people and are held accountable for their words/actions.

TD not so much, alot of people would lose their job with some of the shut they say here while in hiding.

Ok sure change the taxes on them and stuff but they are still not having you arrested or jailed for speaking your mind. Actually text of the 1st Amendment please point to which part they in Twitter are violating.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Don’t get me wrong I think it is shitty authoritarian bullshite that will only further divide and tear this country apart. The next logical step is further censorship and eliminating of speech they don’t want out there but it does not violate your rights.

They’ve been erasing the internet like a shaken Etch-A-Sketch since the start. You didn’t give a shite until it was your guy. Trump overplayed his hand and is paying for it.

This isn't true. This board has been pushing for Republicans to stop letting Twitter and Facebook hide behind the 230 laws. "Republicans" on Capitol Hill had multiple hearings about it. Trump and his staff sat down with Zuckerburgs lying arse a few years ago when it first came out that Facebook had algorithms to limit conservative view points.
