AN Emirates flight has been quarantined at JFK Airport in New York after 100 passengers reported feeling ill on board, with reports of coughing and high fevers.
Flight 203 from Dubai was heading to New York when dozens of the 500 passengers reported feeling ill.
Port Authority Police and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention were waiting in a staging area to check passengers.
Rapper Vanilla Ice, who claimed to be on the plane, tweeted: "So I just landed from Dubai and now there is like tons of ambulances and fire trucks and police all over the place
"This is crazy. Apparently there is over 100 people sick on the bottom floor, so happy I’m up top, it’s a double-decker plane 380.

Maybe the illness is killing their brain like a poisonous mushroom.

Well he did say “my style’s like a chemical spill”.

Anyone checked the tail number?
Wait...this should probably be in the Q thread.

Hopefully its Norovirus. People get it from flying every so often. though usually symptoms aren't apparent until after the flight, I assume this one was so long that it did start happening.
Hits fast and hard, but people tend to be fine after about a day or two.

interesting...would not be difficult for an airborne contaminate to be introduced into an airliners cabin air re -circulation system
Doing so to an Emirates flight would be a major shift in terrorist mechanization's, considering the amount of illicit dollars laundered in Dubai.

nothing new for Vanilla Ice

I never thought I’d say this, but after being sick one day and accidentally binge watching his house flipping show I’ve come to like ole Rob Van Winkle.
He’s at the stage now where he’s basically just mocking his earlier self for laughs and having a good time doing it, and seems to have pretty decent values and work ethic (he actually does a majority of the job himself along with 2 other guys, stuff you never thought you’d see Vanilla Ice doing like operating a back-hoe and building a fireplace).
He wakes up at 5am every morning and goes straight to work because he “likes waking up early and really getting after it to make the most out of the day” which makes him a better man than I.

Everybody around him probably had chills.
If food poisoning was a drug, he'd sell it by the gram.

Hopefully the airport staff managed to stop, collaborate and listen before allowing the passengers to disembark.

That's how The Strain started. We're fricked.

The reasonable, "Occam's Razor" person in me thinks food poisoning is what happened here.
The post-9/11 "War on Terror" veteran worries it might be a dress rehearsal for next week.
It's impossible to develop flu symptoms during a flight if that is the exposure window, even a long international one - incubation period is just too long. SO, if the flu, all those folks came onboard with it (and this being September, that's unlikely). But, a weaponized agent CAN cause symptoms that quickly.
So, fingers crossed it's just some bad lamb or whatever.
