All speech? No.
Established protected speech? Yes.
Rubio should immediately provide evidence fully documenting this student’s transgressions if it want beyond voicing an opinion in an op-ed. Rubio seems to indicate this student was a participant in campus protests that went beyond protected speech:
Deportation halted for Tufts student whose visa Rubio says was revoked due to activism…
"If you apply for a visa to enter the United States and be a student, and you tell us the reason you are coming to the United States is not just because you want to write op-eds, but because you want to participate in movements that are involved in doing things like vandalizing universities, harassing students, taking over buildings, creating a ruckus — we're not going to give you a visa," he said…
I did not oppose Khalil’s deportation once I learned more of his involvement in student-led “protest” movements. Khalil was a representative of a group that not only blocked access to classrooms, occupied administrative offices and harassed other students, it also openly called for violence against Zionists.
None of these actions are 1st Amendment considerations. With that said, simply writing an op-ed that characterizes the War In Gaza as genocide is something altogether different.

Generative AI doesn’t have a law degree, friend. It’s a poor substitute for actually studying American constitutional law. If a foreigner on a visa engages in disruptive protests, the government has every right to revoke their visa and deport them. You and Bunk are clearly wrong.

Uh oh. More facts coming out. Imagine that. You dumb idiot. Such hubris while being completely ignorant. It never ceases to amaze me.

Meh. Attending a mass protest has never been my thing.

This is all I could find about "details" as to why she was imprisoned.
“DHS and (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) investigations found Ozturk engaged in activities in support of Hamas, a foreign terrorist organization that relishes the killing of Americans. A visa is a privilege, not a right. Glorifying and supporting terrorists who kill Americans is grounds for visa issuance to be terminated. This is common sense security,” the spokesperson told the AP.

Sandbag Judge...hold in confinement in a District where a corrupt Judge won free them and ultimately deport. They are Hamas terrorist ops.

Another Obama appointee?

Attending a protest is also protected speech fyi. Do we have proof that this person violated any laws? Attending protests and writing op-eds are not national security issues.

Here's the problem: it is all fun and games when your team owns the executive branch but the expansion of executive power never retracts when your team leaves office. These tactics will be used on right-wing immigrants in a few years. The duopoly will continue working their angles until we arrive at what I'm talking about above.
We don’t need these tactics happening at all. First amendment? It’s wrong for either side to trample on human rights.

She is likely in a detention center as we type. If you are being removed and you are detained….it is in a detention center.

She shouldn’t have participated in the type of “protest” she did while on a visa. Moral turpitude is a standard in every immigration case. You don’t have a human right to infringe on other people’s rights.

Show me the proof she violated any laws because attending a protest is protected speech. The generative AI is not the gotcha. You guys don’t deserve effort, so copying something that passes the smell test is all you’re getting for lit review from me on a Saturday.

Green card holders and those with student visa are not citizens and so not have the same protections under the first amendment that citizens do.
It even states this in the basic language of those forms when you apply. The bar for materially supporting a terrorist group or organization is extremely low and does not require a physical presence but only speech that encourages action in print or in public.
There is a reason why I caution all of my international students to not get caught up in any type of politics while on campus.
This is not something new or something Trump invented. This has been used in this manner since the 1990s. Just because the State Department under Trump is doing this now doesn’t mean it’s illegal. This is more of a symptom of how poorly the vetting and monitoring process of student visa holders has become in the last 30 years.

I see a federal executive that will shite on the 1st amendment freedoms that are entitled to foreigners on US soil all the same as citizens under completely specious "national security" concerns.
The SoS has always had the ability to pull visas for any reason he/she wants. This isn't new. That ability is there precisely for national security concerns as anyone can get a visa and travel here.
And this woman is an Hamas supporter. Hamas has been designated a terrorist organization by the following countries:
European Union
Argentina
Australia
Canada
Israel
Japan
New Zealand
Paraguay
United Kingdom
United States
Organization of American States
Switzerland

Ah. Good. So now you admit it wasn’t just an op-ed. Good. Now. Tell me about her actions at these protests….
