Hope they don't get captured. Donna T doesn't like pilots that are captured.

So let me get this strait, Iran claims it “shot down” a U.S. aircraft (they say F-35, reports lean to a F-15E), but yet we’re able to fly low level c-130’s and 60 SAR helicopters at low levels without challenge?

Sounds like a mechanical issue and not an engagement, but facts are slow coming from verified sources.

Or very lucky IRGC hit

TRAP operations generally have overwhelming air cover on missions.

I'm surprised we still fly these planes. I remember making F-15 models as a kid in the 1980s.

Did I read it right, that IF this plane was actually shot down it would be the first one intentionally shot down since 1999?

Which unfortunately means that we don't have the complete air superiority that we claimed

Maybe, but the US Military would like to thank them for popping off and showing where that is located, it will be a crater by morning

In the 80s they only had F15C and each squadron had a D model but we never deployed those. The F15E that the 494th has were made in 2002-2004. I was in the 492nd there and we had 1996-1998 models. Also there have been a lot of changes made to those in the last 10 years. They have received a lot of upgrades, especially to the EW packages.

You don't seem to understand the definition of air superiority. Air superiority is simply a favorable position. Air supremacy means you can conduct operations without interference.

You will find that his lack of understanding about this subject extends to every other subject. Being so utterly ignorant on such a broad range of topics and then being able to create a deeply held belief based on that lack of knowledge is amazing. It's really quite an accomplishment.

This would seem to be a regional thing

It's not like the entirety of Iran is the square mileage of Port Allen...

An A10 was shot down in Iraq, by a SAM, while I was on deployment in 2003. So, no that wouldn't be correct.

Unless they are specifically talking about the F15, which then, I'm not sure.

That is no F-35. If somebody is claiming they shot an F-35 down, it's a lie.
F-35 does not have any protruding head fasteners on the surface.

I believe centcom has confirmed it's an f-15e not an f35 and reports that one pilot has been rescued. I guess the weapons officer is still missing although there are reports that he or she has been recovered. Also, great news on a good Friday for both our Americans
