Example of China's trade practices.... the takeover of Solar

Here is an example of what we are fighting
1- 1953, Bell Laboratories employee Gerald Pearson made a solar cell with silicon instead of selenium. The first solar cell was born.
2- time goes by, China takes the tech. THE CHINEESE gov opens plants. They make solar panels and flood the market with below costs panels. In fact..... they are taking a huge loss.
3- They did that to do one thing. Put US companies out of business. It's a form of a Trade war. In the end, US companies closed.
4- China came in and purchased those companies.
What do you think should be done about trade practices like that?

Why didn't the U.S. invest in its renewable resource companies when its a fact that fossil fuels are limited?
If solar and wind companies had the same level of govt support as coal and oil this wouldn't be an issue.
China plans for their nation in 100-200 year plans.
Everyone on earth knows that oil, gas and coal are finite. Why does China understand it better than the U.S.?

Not sure what that has to do with this.

No sir. Tell me how US companies compete with a GOV OWNED industry that is selling BELOW their manufacturing costs?

Both countries subsidized solar tech. They just prioritized it more than we did. They were looking long term on this issue and it could pay off. I'm not sure what your complaint is.

Obama gave half a billion taxpayer dollars to one of his buddies. Shocked when Solyndra went belly up.
Of course the chances of success were known to be slim at best. Nothing more than political payback.

The us government could invest in renewable power companies like it did with the defense industry.
You think boeing or Lockheed or Raytheon are pioneers as inventors?

It’s not the job of the federal government to invest in companies. What the government can do is foster a climate, including international trade, so those companies can succeed.
I miss the old left, who cared about the American worker

No they don't Power'no such thing as electrical steel'man.
Just like with electrical steel, you are putting your ignorance on display.
Subsidized is way different than owning.

Well if I was an American Corporatist/Globalist I would say all is going swimmingly, if I was to answer for the uniformed portion of the American populace I would say "Wut!" Answering for myself I say "This is some serious fricked up'd BS!"
The bigger concern is the effort the Chinese are putting into controlling AI with the help of some US tech companies.
There is an inherent problem with some aspects of capitalism....., capitalism forces the companies to continuously expand and chase profits for the shareholders and in doing so the country where the company was founded becomes just another saturated market place and the company considers itself a global entity and not beholden to the country of its origin.

Anyone that has an issue with Trump's stance with China on trade has never dealt with the Chinese directly.
I dealt with the Chinese for 12 years in another career life.
Those are the lyingest, thievingest, crookedest mother frickers breathing air.
Know the best way to tell when the Chinese are trying to frick you?
When they're awake.

Chinese LandWind sells for $14000. Takes them about 6 mo to disassemble an actual LR, copy it digitally and then reproduce for production.
