I was behind someone who had my grandkid goes to Dominican sticker and It got me thinking. Without the Spanish forcing Catholicism over here, there wouldn't be as much of it. New Orleans would be completely different.

Basically, we were raised catholic down here because some monarchs made it so.

And the current pope is a bitch.

Dude you have lived a sheltered life.

The division was even greater between Episcopalians/Presbyterians vs Baptists/Methodists before all these splinter "evangelicals" got any traction, across the South.

They seem to forget that the Jews couldn't kill Christ without a Roman acceding to their wishes.

Thanks for confirming that the ancient pharasees pushed to have Jesus murdered even to the point of threatening a Roman official. The religious leaders of Judaism at the time seemed to be really good at getting someone else to do their dirty work. A lot like today, no?

Ehhh, the French population. Big wave of Sicilian immigrants at the turn of the 20th century. Even the earlier Irish and German waves (where a lot of the Germans were Catholics).

Lot more involved in New Orleans being a "Catholic city" and not looking more like say, Atlanta, than just the Spanish "forcing" it on anyone.

I have no problem with Catholics or their beliefs, but this Pope needs to snap out of it.

If the Baptists had a pope, can you imagine the shite that stupid motherfricker would say?

Or how about the other Protestant religions? As a Catholic, I’m no huge fan of the pope. But compared to what I see from the other Christian religions, I’ll ride with him.

All you fellas need to get saved if you haven't believed on the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins and everlasting life. All this religion talk about who is better or right is doing you no good if you die in unbelief.

This isn't meant directly to Catholics or Protestants but whosoever has not believed...

John 1
12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—

The Washington Post weighs in:

What explains the upsurge in Catholic converts, many of whom seem to be young? One factor, Julia Yost suggests below, is the importance of images for a generation raised on TikTok. If we’re becoming a postliterate society, it will be hard for a textual faith such as Protestantism to compete with the pomp and dumbshow of popery

I don’t think it’s anything new. The popes seem to be liberal and Joe Biden is a catholic . If most Catholics don’t agree with them then they need to force some changes .

Stop being purposefully obtuse.....if that is possible. The Swiss Guard can in no way be considered an offensive force.

Your problem isn't with me, it's with what your pope said, mensa.

quote:

God does not bless any conflict. Anyone who is a disciple of Christ, the Prince of Peace, is never on the side of those who once wielded the sword and today drop bombs. Military action will not create space for freedom or times of #Peace, which comes only from the patient promotion of coexistence and dialogue among peoples.

Do see the word "offensive" anywhere?

Catholic Church teaches that defending oneself in an attack is justified and that proportionate defense is appropriate even if said defense is fatal so long as the intent was not murder.

So the Swiss Guard's role is permissable and their possession of weapons justified in defense of their charge.

You should do a little research into the Catholic Church's doctrine.

Defending your home , yourself and family from attack is permissable. Attacking your neighbor because he's a SOB and has abhorrent beliefs is not....we aren't Calvinists

Some Germans were Catholic, at least the wave which came over under French rule in the mid 1700s. A lot of Lutheran churches opened in NOLA in the 1850's with the 2nd wave. Most of them became Episcopalians because that is where the rich and powerful were. My wife's ancestors did just that. Notice that Rex and the old family Mardi Gras Krewes are all members of the Pickwick Club and Episcopalian at least in name. No Jews, Catholics or "hayseed" denomination members allowed in upper NOLA society circles

What's the old joke?

Why is it that Baptists cannot have sex standing?

It might look like they are dancing.

I don't doubt that and I didn't take issue with what the Catholic Church teaches about self defense because I don't know or care what that is.

I took issue with a quote. If the pope was sloppy with his words that's not on me.
