Talk about being ungrateful.

Since the end of World War II, the United States has spent trillions of dollars defending Europe. After defeating the Nazis, America rebuilt the European continent with the Marshall Plan and shielded it from Soviet aggression while propping up European economies through subsidies and investments.

We bailed out failing governments. We airlifted food into Berlin when it was being choked off by the Soviet Union. We sent military aid. We ultimately saved Europe from communism.

And instead of gratitude, we receive lectures, censorship of American speech on European platforms, punitive fines against our tech companies, and open disdain for our values and way of life.

This week, the contempt was on full display in Germany. Chancellor Friedrich Merz declared he would not advise his own children, or presumably any young Germans, to study or work in America “because of the social climate that has suddenly developed there.” He made the United States out to be a vast wasteland where educated Americans struggle to find basic jobs. This comes from a country grappling with economic stagnation, energy crises, and demographic decline.
...

This pattern of dependency extends beyond military matters. European governments impose strict price controls on life-saving prescription drugs developed in the United States, capping what they will pay American manufacturers. To sustain the massive research and development costs required for new cures, companies naturally recoup those European losses in the freer US market.

The result? Americans end up subsidizing Europe’s healthcare systems, paying significantly higher prices so Europeans can enjoy lower ones.

President Trump has made this much clear—no longer will the United States tolerate being the world’s unwitting benefactor. Policies aimed at fairer pricing, a more level playing field, and reciprocity are essential to end this imbalance.

That’s why US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, chief health department adviser Chris Klomp, German Ambassador Jens Hanefeld, and the rest of the Trump administration took the unprecedented step of demanding that Germany raise their own costs on prescription drugs. If a drug costs $10 in Germany, there is no reason Americans should pay $1,000 for it. This plan not only saves Americans money but will make life-saving medications more affordable for those who need them most.
...

The United States has not abandoned Europe but wants it to become more independent and economically viable. Europe can choose to rise to the occasion as genuine partners or watch the relationship evolve into something far more transactional. The choice is theirs, but the days of riding America’s coattails are numbered.

Good. We’re decades late doing this.

Europe is like EBT recipients. Get everything for free then complain it’s “not enough”.

What else would you expect from a website with the URL amgreatness.com?

After reading this article on Iran, I think I know where NC is getting his talking points from lately.

Europeans would rather give their countries, history, and culture over to third world degenerates than admit their existence is entirely dependent on the United States.

big pharma has no problem sticking it up Americans asses. Our Government should tell them to frick off, and demand the same prices, or cut their balls off.

EBT recipients, Europe, and fed wild animals are all the same. Dependency turns to hatred when you try and cut them off.

I often wonder what America would be like if the productive weren't dragging half our own population and, as it appears, half the free world along with us.

I do know it's truly unsustainable because you eventually run out of the ability to provide free stuff as more and more people jump on the gravy train.

Europe chose to go Transnational Progressive/DEI along with the Dem Party in this Nation. Biden/Dem Party opened the Border (like Europe) and imported tens of millions of dependent immigrants. Many unemployable and psychotic. How that works out in the near future remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure…it’s out in the open now.

The integrity and validity of the coming Midterms will be pivotal. There will be more of that Supreme Court “No Standing “ BS” lest they totally lose cred and the power that comes with it. The Courts is the last Leftist bastion before they take it to the Streets. They know this and are already rattling their violent revolution sabers. Like this Forum they watched “Why the Right will win the coming Civil War”, and it hit home.

Trump cannot let them slide again like the first time. The Supreme Court had better act to make elections verifiable. Or they’ll own the blood.

It’s coming.

I don't do talking points SFP. The OP parrots what I've contended here re: EU Freeloading for several years, including in several tariff threads where you made it clear you believe international freeloading is just fine.

Regarding OP sources, there is no need to guess.

Instead of the USA trying to force other countries to control prices, the USA should tell drug companies that the largest market for their drugs will only accept the cheapest price.

I agree 100%. The sad pathetic thing is that if not for President Donald Trump, this supporting 'our allies' like 3 year old's crap would continue for eternity. MAGA

I am 100% for leveling the playing field but the Europeans didn't inflict higher cost on the USA in the drug market. If they don't want to pay sky high prices for drugs then don't sell them those drugs. It really is how capitalism works. You make a product and the buy decides if that price is worth it or not.

Europe is not forcing anyone to lower the cost without the seller agreeing to it.

We could do this too but we refuse to protect our own people from healthcare profiteering. That is a choice. We are not “subsidizing Europe.” We are killing ourselves.

Agreed. The federal government should set a maximum house price too.
