It’s a trap!

As soon as U.S. troops enter the equation on the ground in Russia, particularly as the buffer force in the point of conflict between Ukranian and Russian military, there will be some intentional event created to harm U.S. troops and thrust the USA NATO alliance in direct combat with Russia.

This is the element of Zelenskyy’s greatest need. If U.S. troops are killed or drawn into combat, an escalated war against Russia becomes the tool to get all the captured territory back.

The outline is clear.

Isn’t that exactly what we’ve been doing for the last several years? Zelensky pissed in his own punch bowl.

Oh well. Then I guess Z is on his own. What did they not understand about Trump wanting peace?

Why haven't they put troops in before now? Why wait until the entire Ukrainian army has been wiped out and they are drafting old men?

It looks to me like there are two paths being proposed. Trumps path and the Euro path, the plans are totally different.

Path One:
Trumps deterrent is the presence of US/EU businesses locating and doing business in Ukraine.
Ukraine probably loses territory.

The question is does this stop Putin long term?

Path Two:
The Brittish prime ministers plan involves economic sanctions and continued meat grinder war with the threat of EU boots on the ground only with strong US backing(whatever that means). Ukraine probably gets most to all of their territory back or Russia wins and gets the whole country. Or the world gets to see the start of a nuclear WW3

Extreme risk of escalation. Putin has to decide if he can weather the economic sanctions and decide if the EU will have the sand to risk nuclear confrontation. The EU is threatening someone they classify as a madman and murderous thug. Someone needs to remind Keir Starmer this is not 1938, and that there are nuclear arms around now.

Oh, then you would be against Lend-Lease to the British. It prolonged WWII instead of a quick German victory. And it costs a LOT of lives.

What good are “peace keeping” troops if they have to be protected!

It's a different time now, calls for different measures. Also is in no way comparable to what's going on UKR/Russ now.

That seems like an extreme interpretation. Trump is just setting the reset button but without the silly prop that Hillary and Obama used.

No, it's the same logical argument. Have you ever heard of 'cash and carry'? That's what we did in WWII before we started lend lease. We were not committed to any war. We were just making deals with real money. You say that's wrong because people die. Got news for ya. All weapon sales mean people are gonna die. So, you want the U.S. to stop selling weapons?

If trump is going to normalize relations with russia. And he is. Then there is no need for nato because there will be no threat to Europe from russia. If trump is looking for ways to cut spending, then nato spending becomes low hanging fruit.

In a conflict that could easily lead to ww3? Yes. Stop. Immediately.

Well well well...

Look who has come crawling back...

Decades of only light infantry...

Not working out so well...

Light Infantry is cheap, not useful in a major war without support.

We've been selling/giving weapons to Ukraine since the war started years ago. Why hasn't WW3 happened yet?
