You understand that they EU member states want to collectively bargain things like trade deals right?

Its the entire purpose of the EU, the organization that they founded and belong to.

Your questions have led you down the path of understanding why it would be in the best interest of the United States to choose otherwise. The US has no obligation to bargain with Europe as a whole and shouldn't do so.

It's bad business for trade, but the EU s also antagonistic geopolitically (ex: Ukraine). There's tons of incentive to start pressuring the EU. European countries need their sovereignty back.

Not sure why VAT matters to be honest. Having lived in UK and Scotland.,, most items had a VAT on them. If they are only charging VAT on imported cars, I agree. If all cars… regardless if domestic or import… are subject to VAT there is nothing to negotiate.

They will do what they are told.

The only ones that like to act like they want to play games are the Europeans.

We arent alike anymore, they are cowards and want pedophilia in their society. We do not.

No. As the undisputed greatest country of all time, we should be aware of our superiority.

Of course we could ask for more, but I say we show some grace.

They wont get it while the Muslims take them over.

They we can bomb it all at once.

The issue with Europe is the same issue with Canada. They put up barriers to entry and then also massively subsidize industries that are exporters to the US.

Doing a 100% free trade deal will only balance the playing field so much if the other aspects aren't also negotiated. Where things diverge between Europe and Canada is that Europe does not have the massive set of pass-through Chinese goods that Canada does.

Getting the European deal should be easier on paper, but their massive cultural reliance on governmental partnership/subsidies will make the negotiations drag on for a while.

You seem to have this belief that we can just decide to make deals with them individually. As if they would do that--despite specifically agreeing not to as the entire foundation for their belonging to the EU.

I would be in agreement with you but this causes a lot of issues with foreign companies trying to comply with EU tax laws and can lead to heavy fines. Sure, large corporations have their own EU tax teams to make sure they’re in compliance but the little guys are left high and dry.

yeah, EU's Common Commercial Policy prevents individual trade deals for members.

It's time to dangle some carrots, though.

don't see why, VAT is also charged on domestically made stuff. There is no way they are going to let us good be VAT free, then we would be undercutting their stuff by like 25%. That's not gonna happen

Yep.

VAT is not applied to exports from the EU, Meaning they are essentially dumping BMW's and Mercedes here as they are cheaper in the US than in Germany where they are made.

I'm saying that the United States has no obligation to negotiate with the EU. And, we should offer each member country the ability to negotiate directly.

You are focused on the obligations of EU members with themselves.

Let's see what happens when things get tight. It's a perfect example of how tariffs can be used to achieve geopolitical ends. This is a great opportunity to crack the EU.
