IMO, a wealth tax would require a Constitutional amendment. But setting that aside, it would require every American to report their assets. That information is what Socialists are after. Save all your life while equivalent earners run through their money paycheck to paycheck, and in the end Warren, Sanders, and the Dems want to tax your savings, reducing them to the level of those who lived irresponsibly.

There is no practical way to implement such a tax. It would be a disaster for financial markets and would no doubt lead to huge inequities between taxpayers and valuations. At best it's voter bait for stupid people. At worst it's fricking tyranny.

I always want these people to try and run a small business for a while then coma back to me with some tax ideas. Plans like this will literally crush small business owners. The Death Tax was bad, this is worse.

I have a sick feeling that my tax deferred savings accounts are going to be raped by Democrats before I die.
I busted my arse with hard work in college and the professional world...I took tough courses that I knew would make me employable.
All this because enough people went to schools like Tulane, racked up hundreds of thousands of dollars in student debt and graduated with a socialism degree.

This has nothing to do with global inequality or wealth re-distribution, at least as the end game.
The common factor in all progressive programs is the same. Whether it is gun control, government take over of health care, global warming, etc., the solution is always more government control and less personal freedom.
They wave something shiny, free stuff, in front of the ignorant, lazy, non producers, illegals to get votes and gain political power, ultimately total control. They tell all of these groups that the reason your situation or life is crap is not your fault, it is the fault of these white people who are greedy and will not share with you. "Give us control and we will solve all problems and everything will be a paradise."
Once they achieve their goal, to hell with having to pretend they are concerned for the welfare of their created interest groups, whether it is blacks, trans gender whatevers or anything in between.
Dictatorial socialist systems in the 20th century have largely arisen from chaos. Whether it was the Russian revolution, post WW I Germany, post WW II China the socialist systems filled a power vacumn. The transition to totalitarianism came quickly. Progressives in America have to at least initially deal with a stable constitutional republic. There is no power vacumn so they have to go much slower than they would like.
They are playing the long game and are being unwittingly aided by those of us who love this country and abhor their ultimate goal by our pointing out the trees instead of the forest. Instead we need to label the progressives as what they are. Communists in disguise. Does every Democrat believe this. Of course not. Most are looking at the shiny stuff. But make no mistake, this is the end game.
A college professor of mine in the late 60's said more than once "communism works if you do it right". Make no mistake, this is where the left is going.
