Do the students who paid off their loans get a refund?
No shite. I've paid off a cumulative $35k in student loans. That'd be a nice fat check.

The bill would forgive $50,000 in student loans for Americans in households earning less than $100,000 a year.
Dumb.

I really am not condemning the folks with huge debt, but we really need to see a change in the lending practices and the way kids plan for their working life.
I think the answer lies in why these colleges are able to charge as much as they do. 4 years of education shouldn't result in a 20 year payment plan.

Basically, if you chose your college and major poorly (or didn’t try) and now you aren’t making any money, you are rewarded. If you got a degree in something worthwhile that is lucrative and worth the loan, sorry you have to pay.
Not only that, it fricks over the people who sacrificed and did without in order to do the right thing and pay back the money they borrowed.

I have a real question. How does the gov pay for defense bill annually? This year it's 733 Billion dollars. Don't worry I'll wait for your answer? People say how do you pay for things they don't want. I get it you can disagree on how it's funded and what threshold you would have to pay it back. Also certain degrees could be covered. But the adversity to educating all citizens is silly. Especially when liberals are all called dumb. Don't you want to educate them?

Because the federal government got into the student loan business. Name one private endeavor that FedGov involved themselves in where the price didn’t go up exponentially.
It’s a sucker’s game to NOT increase your prices if the money’s always going to be there.

Tax revenue

Who doesn’t want a military? And it’s not like a bunch of people contracted with the military, had the military perform their end of the bargain, and are now crying that they can’t afford the bill.

What’s silly is the fact that people cannot see the direct connection between the access to subsidized education loans and the increase in tuition across the country.

Are we forcing them to take economics classes?

I think all mortgage debt on homes should be cancelled too.
It’s not fair that the banks make all that money at our expense.

I can understand and agree with the opposition to this bill for a lot of reasons, but damn there are some whiny jealous little people in here.

Elizabeth Warren's understanding of finance is no better than I would expect from a 7th grader.
Frankly, I suspect she wouldn't be at the top of the 7th grade class in my kid's school on this one.
Completely disagree.
This is just another exhibit of pandering. She knows this is garbage, but figures "Once I use this nonsense to get elected then I can do the stuff that is really important!"

Tell you what....do what used to be done:
go in the military or become a teacher and 10% per year of your student loan will be forgiven!!!
