Dumb f**ks that scream “tax the rich more!”

Just saw this statement made in a thread about the death penalty (weird)
Anyway, here is a quick and very common tax scenario that points out who the dumb fricks really are.
Rich Person A:
Accumulates $2,375,000 in wealth. Not from working, but from being given it over the course of his childhood by his rich parents. This person is a single adult in his late 20's that has never held a job.
HIs parents or his parents financial advisors have his wealth invested in very conservative, blue chip, high divided yield stocks averaging 4%.
Person A reports $95,000 in dividend income from those investments for 2025. Enough to live on given all the free unreported benefits thrown his way.
Rich person A pays $4,418 in federal income tax or 4.7% of his reported income.
Working Class Person B
Person B is single also and works in a factory as an employee for a large company and receives a W-2 so that every penny that he earns is reported to the government to be taxed.
Person B also made $95,000 in 2025 working his arse off in a factory or a mill, and has no other income.
Factory Worker B federal income tax for 2025 is $12,070 or 12.7%
But there's more. Factory worker B has to also pay social security and medicare tax at 7.65% of every dollar he earned which is taken out of his check before he gets it at $7,268.
Factory worker B has paid in a total of $19,338 in federal income tax versus a total of $4,418 for the rich kid with the two million dollar investment fund on the same reportable income.
I'm not even going to count the 7.65% in payroll tax the company has to pay on the worker's behalf, but I should.
Who looks like the dumb fricks that don't know who is actually paying the bills to keep this country going?

if you are an adult who worries about what others earn, your parents failed to raise you correctly

Anytime someone tells me that we need to tax the rich more, I ask them what tax rate the rich currently pay. If they can’t tell me, I know it isn’t worth the oxygen.

Are you saying that wealth/assests should be taxed and not income?
Because your example would lead to that conclusion.

This is a poli board thread.

I popped in here occasionally over a couple years to read posts before I paid my entrance fee to post and so I know you are one of a handful on here that can't be reasoned with so you won't be getting any responses from me on anything you post.
Not trying to be a butthole, it just is what it is.
So, going forward if you think I'm ignoring you, it's because I am. You're not the only one.

Gotta love this little unattributed addition to this supposed factual illustration.

You're forgetting about buy-borrow-die where you don't even need to liquidate and pay taxes

No not at all. The scenario listed is income vs income.
It's just income derived in two different ways: investment income vs what we call earned income.

Person A doesn’t get social security work credits so you can remove that from the comparison right off the bat.

I think people screaming "tax the rich" aren't talking about taxing income. They are talking about taxing wealth as well.
I'm afraid you don't understand their argument.

Most people don’t realize they’re closer to being homeless than they are to being in the bracket these taxes would most effect.

Let’s not forget that worker A’s parents employed 300 worker B’s at their business which provides about $5.8M in revenue. This is over looking worker A’s families property taxes ,death tax and their income tax. But yes the middle class always gets the shaft. The rich are smart and have resources and the poor do not pay any taxes.

You are comparing apples to oranges though, one is ordinary income and one is investment income.
You don’t have to be rich to benefit from long term investment or qualified dividends.
So you want the government to raise taxes on us more in our investments?

??
Has nothing to do with it.
It's $95,000 vs $95,000
The only difference is how it's made: working vs investing
The rich make a living by having their money work for them, and know that the middle class make their money through working.
That's why the first close to $50,000 in dividend income is taxed at zero %
Why isn't the first $50,000 of earned income taxed at zero % ?
It's because the rich run things and the middle class are not smart enough to realize it.

You realize that there is a difference between earned and unearned income…. The tax treatment difference is based on the whole of tax payers not your small scale inheritance example..

Funny how everyone wants to tax OTHERS more, but don't pay more themselves.
There is a box on every tax form where you can pay more taxes than you have to

A lot of truth.
People will also argue that taxing the wealthy means they will provide less in tax by not hiring as many people. Despite now decades of proof that this is not the case.

It accused person A, without evidence, of getting unclaimed, taxable benefits.
