Dr who was once an evolutionist explains why mankind is no accident

Dr. Tommy Mitchell has gone through a spiritual evolution. The medical doctor, who once embraced theistic evolution, is now a young-Earth creationist who speaks and writes for Christian ministry Answers in Genesis.
"Most of the doctors I worked with for years and years and years were atheists," he said. "This whole issue of the complexity of the body just doesn't really come up because you're so busy taking care of grandma, you don't sit back and go, 'The heart or the kidney or whatever is so wonderful.'"
As for Mitchell's own observations about the human body, he laid out a compelling case for why it all cannot possibly be the result of an accident.
"When you stop and really consider the complexities of the body — whether it's the homeostatic mechanisms that allow the temperature to remain constant, or the acid-base levels to remain within very tight limits, or the way the kidney helps regulate the blood pressure and the fluid balance, or the blood-clotting proteins and they all have to be in exactly the same place at exactly the right concentrate or a small cut on your finger will cause you to bleed to death [it is compelling]," Mitchell said.
He continued, "When you really stop and take one step back and consider how enormously complex the body is, there's no possibility it could be an accident."
The doctor also spoke about his transformation from theistic evolution to young-Earth creationism, noting that the change-of-heart required some "unlearning a lot of the things" he had been taught.

Young Earthers are so cute!
Even the Bible doesn't teach young earth

Never understood why people try to make them mutually exclusive. God is complex, far more so than humanity will ever understand. He has the power to have created a universe 14 billion years ago that he knew would evolve us.
I don’t have a problem with the coexistence of science and religion.

Orthodoxy, Catholicism, and a good chunk of Mainline Protestants maintain this position. YEC is pretty exclusive to some evangelical denominations or churches, currently.

Then you’re a theistic evolutionist, like the doctor in the OP once was.

Short version: Religious doctor denounces evolution, citing irreducible complexity arguments based on examples debunked a decade ago.

Got all of the usual suspects to show up.

Now back up your claim.

Bible teaches there was no death before Adam’s first sin. The whole reason Jesus came was to save mankind from sin and death. If evolution has been happily churning along and animals have been dying for millions of years before man ever existed, death existed before sin and the entire bible has no meaning.
Evolution is not compatible in the slightest with the Bible.

Dude has no imagination.
Your big story is based on someone holding both wrong positions in same lifetime.

You really cannot mix faith and science.
I am not religious, but if there was an all powerful God He could fake any scientific evidence he wanted to about evolution or anything else.
Yep, He can create everything but no way he could fake some fossils being billions of years old.

What kind of benevolent Creator would do such a thing? A Demiurge, perhaps, but that's a dark road to go down.

I have two thoughts on that sir. I too have asolutely marveled at the ridiculous complexities of he human body. And wondered how is it possible that all this could come together even over millions of years of evolution. But then when contemplating the one great creator I then am equally in a maddening state as to why, given the awesomeness of that power, would a creator make the body one long and almost endless stream of minute complexities. I am a Christian BTW.

No human death =/= no animal death.
I'd like an explanation for the dinosaurs. Why did dinosaurs live for millions of years before humans?

Like I mentioned, I am not religious so I don't think about this much. I can't get past what keeps God from getting bored.
I don't slight people's religions though, because it is something I don't know anything about. I envy people who believe what they do fervently if they are sincere about it and don't bother me too much about it. In my personal experience atheists have been more obnoxious trying to "convert" me than anybody else.

He's never been to an abortion clinic where the overwhelming sentiment is "it was an accident"

I mean what, it would be like 1 in 100 million chance...
Oh, you mean life has been on the Earth for 800 million years?
Well heck in 800 million years, well I guess anything could happen.
Not exactly a fair way to think of things because of how one evolutionary change built on another change, but you get the idea...
