Probably right.

The political arena is kind of a cesspool and I don't think you can succeed in it with 100% integrity.

What caused this in America? Maybe I’m just naïve but early presidents did seem to have integrity. When/why did it go left?

Do you think local politicians ever had integrity? I’m thinking of city mayors. Has there ever been a decent mayor of Chicago or Detroit?

Well, it's not just in America. I think it's that way everywhere. I think it's just the nature of the profession.

And our early presidents were some of the guys who ignored the fact that we were violating one of our own founding ideals by enslaving people and allowing other Americans to enslave people. "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal..." they just acted like that didn't exist when it came to black people.

In fact, one could argue that the founding fathers knew exactly how dirty politics would always be, which is why they came up with a system that took such care to provide hardwired protection from the government. They knew it would be necessary even when they were in charge of the government!

But if I'm wrong and they used to have more integrity, I would guess that the fact that they were part of a Christian nation (and they were...remember that the state governments gave rise to the federal government and ratified the constitution, not the other way around, and every state charter and constitution at the time professed specific faith in the Christian God) and we are very much a post-Christian nation is the reason why.

Corruption. Slowly outsourced all engineering to consultants with large kick backs to politicians. City consulting engineers typically have to charge 3.2 times salary to do business in the city. Working for private companies the markup is usually 2.2. The Wood pump was invented there and they still have pumps from the 1920s in operation.

You should be electing people that have governorship or CEO experience. Not senators, mayors or congressman.

You should be electing people with experience

But take New Orleans for example. we desperately need a leader who has infrastructure expertise but we only elect lawyers.

Well New Orleans didn’t elect a lawyer. She got her ba in sociology.

I do think people go in with good intentions. Not everyone is bad. The problem is you find out quick you have to play ball if you want your projects even considered.

Then you have the lifers getting rich off shady dealings, like the Bidens.

Trump is a problem solver by nature. Biden and his gaggle of string pulling Marxist hens was a problem maker and suffering dementia as well.

Fixed it for you

Ie is 4dummies an expert at posting on TD because she thinks she's the smartest libtard on the board? Was TBoy an expert before her?

Is Decatur a retard for posting stupid shite in every thread? Is Texdiddler a dumbass?

What does posting all this leftist garbage even prove? We don’t read this board for the opinions of expert Marxists who think they can solve the world's problems by running everyone's lives into the ground for the sake of a few elites or some idiotic phony cause that is the flavor of the month to separate you from your money (because that's what demoRat Underground and Reddit are for)

It all seems so stupid. Our resident libtards seem so fake and morally bankrupt. Reading their posts are just pointless.

You might want to go ahead and self deport because you are in for a long 4 years. Actually a long 12 years. JD says hi.

Barack Obama became an expert on everything the night he was elected, so sure why not?

It is.

Utopians fricked it up instead of allowing markets to self regulate. Its a joke, an inappropriate joke.

Thx for the response. I am probably a libertarian at heart, so I don't see elected officials as "leaders." The only effective executives I see (Trump, DeSantis, Giuliani...back in the day) are Republicans.
