It is going to be about the same size as the EOB which most people don't notice on the other side of the WH.

The main WH is tiny. They have to move all the furniture out and put tables in all the rooms for a state dinner.

Regardless of what we think, MSM and Democrats will tell us it looks terrible.

It will probably be just as ridiculous as the Oval Office is now.

Some posts are so painfully stupid that no substantive response is required.

The Truman-era project was basically an emergency intervention with regard to a building that was essentially falling down from a century of minimal care and maintenance. For example, many support beams were completely eaten through by termites. The project was essential and was approved and funded by Congress, and it was fully vetted by the Trust before any work was done.

None of those issues are consistent with regard to the Trump rebuild of the East Wing.
Speaking of an archetypal apples/oranges comparison. The reason Truman's gutting of the WH was approved by Congress is because Truman sought and needed Congressional funding. Full Stop!
That literally has nothing whatsoever to do with the discussion at hand. Trump neither seeks, nor needs Congressional funding,

Now if you want to argue NCPC differences compared with previous projects, I'll buy into that. I'd have preferred Trump be pragmatically able to attain approval in advance. Of course, we all know why he wasn't and didn't.

You say:
quote:

"The Truman-era project was an emergency intervention with regard to a building that was essentially falling down from a century of minimal care and maintenance"
..... For example however, the Truman balcony was no such thing.

Truman was also disgusted with the WH project construction costs, quality of construction, and timeframe. He said "if I could have had charge of the construction it would have been done for half the money and in half the time!" But, Senator Kenneth McKellar and his Commission on the Renovation of the Executive Mansion (CREM) were in charge. Truman was basically relegated to bystanding.

quote:

it was not approved by Congress
Given his construction expertise, interest, and lack of need for Congressional funding, Trump is fairly determined not to repeat the regrets of his predecessor.

So glad president trump gets to build a chinsey ballroom and destroy history while americans go hungry

great job, AMERICA FIRST!

also he is bought and paid for by billionaires, we said trump couldn't be bought well here it is

free money for Argentina because of a gift

gifted from a billionaire - who he will be beholden to - for the ballroom

I mean we wanted to drain the swamp and this is full on swamp behavior, not america first.
