Based on a real case: 'Blatty based his story on a reported exorcism of a boy known by the pseudonyms “Roland Doe” or “Robbie Mannheim” in 1949. The case involved a 14-year-old boy in Maryland who, after using a Ouija board, allegedly began experiencing disturbing phenomena: objects moving on their own, strange noises, and violent behavior. Jesuit priests performed a series of exorcisms on him, and the case was documented by clergy involved.'

Yes, of course, I am going to tell you how God finally, fully reached me 40 years ago as a young 22 year old who had become a young Christian at 20 but had turned back to my old ways (Smoked weed and Cigs at 9, and lots of women early on, was a pool hustler playing Snooker and I stayed out days upon days at 14-15) and so one day I simply asked God to show me if He was real. (This will seem freaky via a Demonic demonstration, but true)
One night in Montgomery Alabama, living in an apartment with some party dudes, we saw a "Church Group" setting up in an open field close by on a Saturday, offering free food/BBQ, Softball games being played, and they had set up a Flat-Bed Semi-Truck for singing and preaching that night, and they brought lots a pretty young Church ladies, so of course we were going to drop by for awhile. And we ate, played some softball, then took off about 3 or 4 to go party, drink a few beers, a few shots, smoke some weed etc.
Well, at about 7 we decided to ease back over, they were now singing, they had metal chairs in the field, in the middle and people stood on both sides, me and my best friend sit in the chairs behind some pretty 20ish ladies. After the singing some very young preacher started preaching for a bit. After he was finished he of course gave an altar call. No one to my knowledge came up, then he said THIS.....Someone in the audience is thinking of committing Suicide, wont you please come up, no one did, so he told his audience that he came with to pray they started praying and this young man started speaking in tongues, me and my hip friend lowered our heads and laughed at each other. THEN............he said COME OUT in Jesus' name you foul spirit of Suicide AND.........
Over to the left standing up, we head a LOUD GROAN (like in the Exorcist no kidding) and this young man (it was darkish out) started flipping like a person flips a baton, his head would be close to the ground, then his feet close to the ground etc. etc., this went on only about 10 or 15 seconds, we were like, WHAT IN THE WORLD, but guess what, when we went over we saw it was one of our roommates !!
The guy comes down and says lets pray for him, the guy was out of it, incoherent, (drugged and drunk) so we joined hands and prayed, and as soon as we said in Jesus name the guy was fully aware of everything, he was no longer drunk and drugged, he said what's going on, so we told him, and dude started crying, and said I got a needle full of dope back in the apartment, I was going to go home tonight and kill myself. My mom needs an operation, and I can't help her, so he was very depressed.
So, yes, Demons really exist. Since that day, I rededicated my life to the Lord and quit cigs, weed, beer and was called to preach God's word, with a bent towards prophesy. My friend was going to kill himself that night because a Demonic Spirit had so depressed his soul. Prayer works, PLUS, God gave us power over all Demons. Amen I heard the Demon, and I saw the demon being cast out, then I saw prayer take a young man from drunk and drugged to sober in 10 seconds.

Demon possessed? Meh. Mentally ill? Definitely.
Yes in most cases but when the subject starts speaking a foreign language they’ve never learned; or, they speak an ancient language only a tiny % of people on earth know, it’s highly probable. Especially throw in physical changes in appearance and crawling across a ceiling.
Check out the podcast “The Exorcist Files”. It follows the true cases of a renowned Catholic priest and Exorcist. It also has interviews with psychologists, neurologists and psychiatrist who’ve been personal witnesses to client’s who are, or were, possessed by “demonic entities.”

That is complete nonsense even speaking in “tongues” doesn’t mean gibberish. That is Pentecostal nonsense created by ignorant or self promoting Christians. Everyone loves to quote scriptures that mention speaking in tongues, prophecy, or casting out demons because those are nothing but performative. Yet, those same scriptures mention healing the sick, drinking poison, and even raising the dead. Yet, no one has ever been raised from the dead or been healed by the laying on of hands since the apostles. It must be from a lack of faith, correct? On the contrary, it isn’t from a lack of faith but simply because we are living in the era of the New Testament and the age of miracles has ended. That doesn’t mean people aren’t healed or blessed through prayer but that is a different discussion

The Bible passages about Jesus exorcising demons from people are just superstitious stories?
Absolutely yes.

You must not have read anything I wrote. I never said anything about Pentecostal churches or speaking in tongues. To completely dismiss it as nonsense is demonstrating a lack of intellectual curiosity.
The podcast I mentioned has zero to do with Pentecostals and speaking in tongues.

people can be thoroughly evil without being possessed by demons
No doubt they can. But do you not also believe people can be possessed by demons? The bible speaks to it plainly.

Do you believe people can be possessed by demons/demonic forces? Upvote if you believe it is possible, downvote if not.
Have you ever seen, felt or experienced a brush with it yourself?
No. Shitty people are just shitty. We dont need to give them any credit by saying some invisible force is making them a terrible person. They are just bad/evil/fricked people.
I choose to be good. I can also choose to not be good. I am sure DNA, impluse control, etc. all have a huge part in that.

As far as the shift towards evil is concerned, literally every generation has people who think we're going to hell in a handbasket.
Time passes and this great country is not only here, but it's as strong as ever.
Today, we're divided, but I have faith that right and justice will prevail. We're truly blessed.

Next time I see someone crawling across a ceiling I'll make a note and take a photo.

I gew up in a fundamental Christian church who didn't allow us to play around with demonic things....as i grew and became a bit of an intellectual, I can still be strong in my Faith, yet acknowledge that even though the world has numerous spiritual beliefs that differ from mine, there exists people with knowledge of God and of Evil, that they can be influenced to act contrary to God's commandments and Jesus' teachings. I believe that these people are influenced by "Satan", even if it can be explained using clinical terms based on secular psycho-social experrts.

By what metric?
In terms of spiritual warfare there are a number of metrics that show there is more evil today. Percent of people who believe in God or are athiest. Percent of people who identify as Christians. Percent of people who are members of a church.
In 1970 90% of adult U.S. citizens believed in God (or some kind of supreme spiritual being). Today that number is 79%. Church membership has dropped precipitously in recent years, beginning to freefall around 2000.. So Biblically speaking it is easy to say the U.S. is more evil now. Charlie Kirk’s Biblical worldview is the reason he was murdered.

Historical Decline: This figure represents a continued decrease from previous years, with a 2020 Gallup poll finding church membership at 47%.
Comparison: The percentage in 2025 is significantly lower than the 73% of Americans who were church members in 1937.

Demonology and exorcisms are just part of a power / money-making scam that has existed for tens / hundreds of thousands of years of human existence.
Most of the people who help to perpetuate it are true believers and unknowing useful idiots.
Humans have always looked to a higher power in an attempt to understand and explain their existence. This predates Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and any other religions that exist today or have ceased to exist.
Sociopaths, psychopaths, schizophrenics, bi-polars, and people with countless other psychological disorders, have always been with us.
Primitive humans explained these people away as being demon-possessed.
If demons exist, then there must be beings that exist to counteract those demons. We called them angels, and gods.
Along came people who were able to convince primitive humans that they somehow had more insight into, or more direct connections with, the gods.
We called those people priests, prophets and messiahs.
We granted them power over us, and agreed to provide them with a portion of our earnings.
Pharaohs, Caesars, chieftains and kings claimed divine right. Popes, Grand Muftis, patriarchs, rabbis and medicine men became power brokers.
Fast forward to today.
The Vatican is opulent.
King Charles is one of the wealthiest people on Earth.
An Ayatollah is the ruler of Iran.
Joel Osteen and Joyce Meyer live in mansions.
What do they all have in common? They scare people with talk of demons and offer them hope through stories of eternal salvation.
