There’s little doubt that isolation curtailed civilization in sub Sahara Africa, same as it did in North America.

I'll admit that I'm not familiar with his entire body of work, however, if you are, you will have to admit that he continuously absolves blacks for certain behaviors by blaming the root of those behaviors on whites. The OP has an example. His Black Rednecks and White Liberals is another example, where he states that the roots of "ghetto" behaviors were learned from the Scots-Irish.

I'll agree with that, but it doesn't really translate on a civilizational level. Higher IQ populations are going to create more advanced nations with a higher quality of life. I don't really see how you could disagree.

Meh. I started reading Sowell's column in the 1980s. I've read 4 of his books, cover to cover. I don't get this at all.
Tracing the roots of behavior is not "blaming". And, to a degree, things like The Great Society ARE the fault of white folks in power at the time those policies were implemented.
But as far as blaming current white folks for current black problems? I haven't seen any of that in almost 40 years of his work. YMMV of course.

He had looked at decendents based on economic locations and overlayed with race and charted outcome to rule out the race being a reason for people's lack of intelligence.
There have been some instances of populations being less intelligent through massive death of the intelligent people in a race after a mass targeting of them by an authoritarian regime. Example, Stalin killed so many Polish people and targeting the educated they actually saw a decline in average IQ. Similar to what happened under Pol Pot with Cambodia.
China basically killed so many it's hard to track anything out of there.

Also they became very triablized and family driven with a great distrust of outsiders. It's no different than pockets of the Ozarks or Appalachia really. The other issue of course is that the best and brightest in Africa leave for better opportunities elsewhere or they have trouble trying to change a culture that is so far behind.
Im glad you pointed it out, its exaclty what I was thinking. Certain areas cut off from the prosperous ones due to geography. No diff than some parts of the US.
Or think of a little po dunk town in the delta. The brightest and most talented will leave that area. Just to a diff area in the US, not to Africa.

So the black soldiers who had babies with German women after WWII were American soldiers in Germany? That's more what I was asking, I wasn't aware of a lot of German women having babies with Africans or black Americans

The "Greek Homos" thing was a favorite of his. I remember when he said that blacks had great civilizations "when them Greek Homos was still livin' in caves", but I can't find an attribution for it. But I heard him say on some broadcast or another. Anyway, he used to do this stuff all the time until his refined his image.

Sorry, Thomas...you put America's population in Africa, and you have America in short order. The amount of resources in Africa is almost immeasurable. Canals, irrigation, pipelines...it all would have happened as long as money had confidence in its investments.

In addition to geography, humankind developed in Africa and has all the parasitic infections to show for it. This disease habitat drags them down. Think of an invasive species and how well it does when it travels to a foreign land, and then compare that to the human Exodus out of Africa.
