DeSantis is the leading edge of a hardliner reaction to the modern world. In some ways I don’t think things are bad enough yet for him to fully catch fire.
Some people would brand him as a form of Christian Nationalist. I don’t think he’s inherently an authoritarian but he’s not afraid to use government power to crush his enemies.
Reminds me of the dictators of the early Roman republic.
