Insurance is to cover items which are not necessarily expected to happen.

With all due respect, you really have no grasp on the intricacies of the healthcare debate beyond dorm-room level bumper sticker cliches

There is a reason even most elected DEMOCRATS shy away from the system you want.

It would amount to the single largest tax increase in American history, and, beyond that, paying providers at Medicare rates would totally frick up the supply chain.

We have "some form" of it, it's called Medicare and medicaid. The problem is almost everyone involved in the decision making has no skin in the game.

It's almost as if that is intentional...

Canadians who actually need medical treatment like to quip: "My dogs and cats get better care."

Lol your party preaches against personal responsibility for literally every aspect of life and think people will magically live better quality lives under a system where they have even less incentive to take care of themselves??? Right now at least there is a financial incentive to not be a slob and people still treat themselves like shite. When the Dems start giving out diabetes meds and bypass surgeries like candy guess who has even less incentive to take care of themselves..

They would find a way to put affirmative action into health care.

50 is insane. Maybe 62 and lower full retirement from 67 1/2 to 62 at double current payments.

Dems will 100% weaponize the healthcare system the same way they’ve weaponized every branch of government they can get their hands on.

Good point. Imagine the level of control they'd gain through healthcare.

Right now, a 60-year-old with an annual income of $51,000 — which is a little more than four times the poverty level — would have to pay a premium of $4,420 a year for a silver health plan on the Obamacare exchanges, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation.

That silver plan must suck, or they're lying about it. Soon to be retirees and recent retirees I know are looking at $16,800 for less coverage than they have employed. $1,400 per month.

I'm thinking it would be more like a 3 way DP with the insurance company - the citizen - and the government.

Insurance owns congress, that's the problem.

I agree with you. Unfortunately most people would go bankrupt paying medical bills if it were not for insurance.

I personally think if the government wanted to improve care they would give everyone a free annual physical including lab work to everybody. That would catch so much stuff in its early stages when it’s treatable. We pay specialists too much in this country and primary care docs too little. Primary Care docs can catch a lot of stuff before it gets bad.

How about morbid obesity rate in this country? That objective enough for you?

It's not ignored at all. Smart people see the NHS courts ruling to terminate health care for citizens and the months long wait list for appointments and surgeries and rightfully think to hell with that.

If you have a problem with your insurance restricting coverage to certain providers then you'll really get a kick out of the government denying treatment outright.

They DO catch a lot of stuff. But they can’t force the person to make the changes they recommend. Gotta remember this is the same country that had to be shut down to tell people to stay home if sick and to wash their hands.
