It may be questionable but the rule of thumb in self-defense shootings is a reasonable fear for your life or grave bodily harm.
Sure. And if the person is holding a BB gun or a Nintendo gun, they are presenting a reasonable threat that justifies a police shooting. The police officer gets to beat the consequences of shooting an unarmed person and the civilian is dead. Good shoot.

Worse part of this is seeing the daughter, seemingly confused, run into the arms of the agency that slaughtered her dad.
Haven't read the thread yet, but...
The dumb arse was shot because the police reasonably feared for his life.
Police walked up in normal stop. Driver IDed himself as CC. Cop said fine but don't touch it. Dumb arse reaches down, police screams to stop he didn't and died. Meanwhile Mrs. Dumb Arse is getting all BLM while her child flees for safety and she films dying Mr. Dumb Arse! Most women would care about their child. Most women would care about their SOs. Most women would care about their safety. Does Mrs. Dumb Arse get her child to safety? No. Does Mrs. Dumb Arse hold her SOs hand, stop the bleeding, or use her phone for ambulance? No. She gets all BLM testimonial.
As a mother, she sucks! As a SO, she sucks! As a SJW-BLM soldier, she's aces!
And quite frankly StrongSafety with your word choice of agency and slaughter I strongly suspect you are a SJW and BLM soldier too!

I fervently hope that if you are ever pulled over by the police you follow their instructions to the letter.
We need you here for the comedy.

No, but gross stupidity can be!

Pretending this isn't a questionable shoot because Castile was smoking pot isn't your strongest argument.
I smoke pot but not in the presence of children nor while carrying a gun. So I'm standing by my statement, if some methhead got killed for not following an officers orders, I wouldn't cry for them and wouldn't want them to be christened as some martyr for me in any way.

Way to pull this out of your arse.
They have the same right to defend their lives that any American has. If you know very many, you've heard this said, word for word.

There's a couple of important caveats to that diktat.

You really can't whine about any of this.
Whites and Hispanics are more inclined to be shot by the cops. Also, black police officers are at a higher rate to shoot an unarmed black man than white cops.
It's really all in the stats. A simple google search will show you this.
Clean up your own culture. Your own streets. Quit making this someone else's problem. It wreaks of desperation. As sad as that is.

Thats pretty fricked up.
There needs to be a complete overhaul on law enforcement in our country.

Sounds simple, unless you don't speak English, are deaf, mentally ill, having a reaction to a medication you took, and a host other reasons where innocent people were killed by the police for "not complying".
I don't doubt that this has happened, but to imply that it happens all the time is ridiculous. More times than not, you get shot by a cop for something you did wrong.

Come on man. I am about as far from a liberal as you'll ever see. Ask me what I think about the second amendment.
I didn't call you a liberal. I pointed out your bias by choosing to omit key information that contradicted your point.

What evidence suggests he did see it?
I can post it again.
We hear the officer saying "I told him not to reach for it! I told him to get his hands off it!" moments after shooting. We also know the gun was there as documented by Castile's female companion and we know by the same evidence that the cops didn't plant the gun in that location.
So what should a reasonable person conclude? There is certainly no evidence that shows the cop was lying about seeing a gun. The evidence shows the opposite - there was a gun in a location where the cop plausibly could have seen it.

That's not their first duty, nor is it in the oath they take, however.
Also, I doubt a jury of my peers will acquit me if I know a CC holder has a gun and "could" have reached for it before I pull out my own gun and kill him. Let's not pretend this is symmetrical.

There's not conclusive evidence. One of the paramedics testified the gun was deep in Castille's pocket and wasn't visible. Yanez's initial statement and his second statement are far more vague than his court testimony. And that's how memory works. When you need to remember he was reaching for his gun, you remember he was reaching for his gun.
It's not nearly as cut and dried as you're pretending it is.
