I wasn't sure where to post this, but since he's in the news more for his conservative religious and political views than anything else, I thought I'd post it here.

I've listened to John McArthur for years, he's a very good pastor and a decent man. He stood up against the Covid-19 Hysteria shutdown of churches when a lot of churches caved in. I think he won a lawsuit challenging the Covid-19 shutdown of churches. Pastor John will be in my prayers 100%, we need more pastors like John McArthur.

He's been a solid pastor for many decades. Praying for his recovery, but honestly, passing on to glory would be a blessing for him. I'm sure he'll receive the "well done, good and faithful servant".

One of the greatest. Never caved to the culture. Stood firm during covid. A legend of the faith.

A muckraking feminist named Julie Roys tried to sully his reputation a few years back on her website, Facebook, and X. I gave her a little pushback at the time and she blocked me pronto.

Thanks for posting this.
To my knowledge, John MacArthur has been a faithful pastor and preacher, prolific writer, warrior in the city gates, witness for the Lord Jesus. May his reward be great in the Lord Jesus. Such a blessing to so many for so long.
I suspect that those who disagreed with him for one reason or another still held him in high regard for his steadfast stand for light and truth.
" For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast." Eph. 2:8-9 (LSB)

I can't remember what it was, but something in the past decade or so he had said or done didn't sit right with me... but yes, still held him in high regard. Still do.

I no longer share his Reformed theology - or much of it - but I did learn a lot from him. He’s a phenomenal Bible teacher. While only God knows, I’m confident he’ll be at the Savior’s feet soon.

If you listen to a Biblical teacher for years/decades and they never say anything you disagree with, you've disengaged your brain.

True.
Friction can be good- iron sharpening iron and whatnot.

I am generally opposed to mega churches, but Rev MacArthur is a good man. Sorry to hear about his illness. Ive watched a few of his sermons over the years, and greatly appreciated he didn't do the dramatic theatrics many with his size following end up getting into.
My prayers are with his family.

Absolutely. When he is called home, I will weep, because the world has been a better place with him in it.

My favorite McArthurism was in his commentary on Corinthians where he opined that the Apostle Paul was being sarcastic when he said “I speak in tongues more than you all.”
A good man who was a good expositor. Vaya con Dios.

Prayers for his family. He was one of the genuine ones.

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,
nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Rest easy Rev.
