The folks at Bethany Church in BR did not like it when I brought up MacArthur’s Charismatic Chaos in the discussion.

RIP
In Peace, good sir.

I no longer share his Reformed theology - or much of it - but I did learn a lot from him. He’s a phenomenal Bible teacher. While only God knows, I’m confident he’ll be at the Savior’s feet soon.

Good on you sir. TULIP can’t save. Only Jesus alone and His finished work saves.

His church has incurred some controversy for counseling women to stay in abusive marriages.

The last video he posted a few months ago. Going to miss him. My favorite theologian.

For the first time he wasn’t able to attend The Shepherds Conference in person, and he pre-recorded this video.

“I’m on my last lap.”

If you’re serious, please show us with Scripture why you believe John McArthur is eternally separated from God’s presence. I’m waiting…anxiously.

All other 7 are anonymous and we are to take someone’s word for it.

Meh.

The story at the heart of this claim is a disturbing story that results from horrible judgment.

But judging him from that incident might be like judging me from my worst incident in my life and that’s not how we interact as humans.

He also had a congregation with a weekly attendance over 8000. Statistically, there will be some sad incidents.

Fair enough. I'm not saying he's a terrible person. Some things I agree with him on, some I don't. In an organization that big he's not likely to have been hands on in everything. It could have been overzealous subordinates running with the letter rather than the spirit of his teachings. But the whole church discipline thing is a slippery slope in general, imv. A church has a right to disfellowship whom it pleases. At the same time it raises questions about the viability of Christian counseling if your deepest personal matters could end up before the congregation. At minimum a strict confidentiality agreement in writing should be part of the process.

I hope you aren't waiting too anxiously... you'll be waiting a LONG time... because, well, he simply can't do it.

I posted earlier in this thread not knowing he had passed away. Leaves me sad.

All I can say is thank you Heavenly Father for this faithful servant of our Lord Jesus.

I read that years ago and I believe I still have it. I grew up in a Pentecostal Church. I believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit but he was right on some points. I witness some chaos at times myself
