Nobody buys their AR any longer anyway so this is no big deal.

However, the president need to end their contract for making the M-16 for the US Military.

Too bad. Their LE6920 is a good out of the box AR for those that don't want to build their own.

I just wanted something else that was heavier and more brutal, like a PTR 91.

Eh, there's a reason why most militaries don't have large caliber battle rifles as standard issue anymore.

I think FN makes the majority, if not all, M-4/M-16s these days.

I know it's unorthodox today, it's just a personal preference.

Colt has already tried this and almost killed the company doing it, and it wasn't that long ago. Seems like they'd have learned a lesson.

Colt is a company that really needs to do a lot of soul searching. The company relied too heavily on being the only AR and M16 FOW manufacturer and cozying up to the government to get contracts. Nowadays everybody and their momma makes them and generally at better prices and features. Colt got left behind on the AR platform design.

I have a Colt and while it works, the same can be said for its competitors and they offer more features and value.

Colt stopped competing in the civilian gun market long ago.
Losing the military will probably kill them.

A shame that a once great American company is dying of self inflicted wounds.

Maybe slightly, but nothing like it would have 10-15 years ago. There's nothing special about Colt, there are better offerings for the money, and most people who understand ARs know that.

Clone builders everywhere weep. Current Colt owners with extra stock laughing at the impending profit.

A year from now they'll "bring it back" for 2x the price and people will buy them up like they are new iPhones.

Funny, the Colt platform is a POS. The A/R type market just improved.

Of course now Colt is off my entire purchase list.

They are steadily releasing new civilian DA revolvers for the civilian market

Colt’s revolvers do not have locks like Smith and Ruger.

Isn’t Colt the only manufacturer with the technical data package that can be purchased at the pricepoint? I don’t think the cheaper options have that information.

They won't lower themselves to compete at the $500 price range.

Can they even do that given the components and tolerances they Use?

Every time Colt tried to go cheaper before with other models the market hasn’t liked it.

Lol

1 no one is buying Colt long rifles
2 Colt has been close to bankruptcy the past decade
3 Colt's CEO needs a lesson in a free market economy

This is like GM saying they are killing off Pontiac to save the planet and not disclosing that Pontiac is on life support.
