Yea, people just accepting that 21 was some magic age led to this. There should be a number, logically 18, where everything is legal. If you can vote, go to war and be tried as an adult, you should be able to buy beer and cigarettes.

As a former smoker, I would say this all the time. You shouldn't have to pay for my healthcare because I smoked. I shouldn't have to pay for yours because you are obese.

I quit 3 years ago.....totally agree with this
but
it seems like the less i see people smoking, the more i hear of people being diagnosed with cancer.

Let's try to understand Dimocratic Socialists logic....
They want drugs either legal or decriminalized to the point there is no penalty for being a strung out and sorry lost soul laying around on the streets, subways, municipal parks etc. or make a determination the biggest threat to a civil and responsible society is the use of tobacco products.
This ^^^^ is why the US is not going to be able to reconcile our differences civilly, one side is 100% gonzo and one side is just trying to slog their way through this world.

They really want to be health conscious, think about Coke, Pepsi and their products.
The damage that poison does to kidneys is horrific.
Had acute kidney failure at one time, every one of 12 Nephrologist that visited me in the hospital warned me about them. Often the first thing they mentioned was the danger they pose.
Said if I was going to ever have a soft drink to try and make it a Sprite or Orange. Diet preferably.
They were insistent that I stay away from dark cola and tell my friends.
Yet there isn't a warning on the can. Lobbies.
The 4 months I spent going to have my blood cleaned until my kidneys were functioning again, the African American patients were over 90% at the dialysis clinic below the old Baptist Montclair Hospital in Birmingham.

That said. Yeah, exorbitant prices on the East Coast. I seem to remember a certain individual that was selling home packed cigs to his co-workers for $4 a pack during COVID, and still charged 50% less than the stores.

Is there even a deadly level of just nicotine?
From growing up in a town of tobacco farmers.
It can considered to be poisonous, as you can't get crops to grow on a field for 7 years, after raising a couple of years crops of tobacco.
I juiced a full green leaf once, just for kicks. Got a tummy ache pretty bad and a matching headache. Edit: then again... Maybe not a good example. I'd lived around that tobacco barn most of my life at that point. So I may have had some immunity built up.

Bans like this never work as the ideologues hope. Exactly how a gun ban would play out too.
