Here’s the important thing in this discussion. We already know what the number is NOT. Whatever China says it is.
They simply lie about EVERYTHING. If they say it. It’s a lie lol

Gawd...and we keep letting them dump their shite on us too. Infuriating how we aren't cracking down more on them coming here.

Devils advocate. Why are they sure it was correct in 1950?

It's even crazier if it were to be true.

US is closer to 350-375mm with illegals. There’s probably 10 million alone completely off the radar and untraceable

Also, the immgration numbers since 1950 are:
around 1 million or <0.1% of the population
Therefore immigration numbers are a non-factor in estimating China’s total population increase since 1950.

I personally find people with an ax to grind super reliable sources of information.

As a result of one-child and its skewed M/F ratio I figured in the not so far future one “worker” has to create GDP to support four elders and six children to keep the country fed.

Might help explain those massive modern cities that are just sitting there, virtually empty.

The video did miss on avg age of death though, in that when your population lives longer you don’t have to necessarily have more kids to increase the population. China may habe 4-5 generations living now compared to 1940s when they may habe avgd 2-3, due to avg age of death increase drastically.
I also agree with the above, how do we know the 500 mil people was correct in 1950? Although without modern cities and building ability like sky scrapers, it does seem unlikely they had more than 500 mil people as there really no photos of vast cities filled with people back then

The U.S. is at 330+ million or whatever and their country is close enough to the same size and they have tons of cities and they live extremely close together in tiny apartments. I could see 1.4 bil being way off but 500 mil seems way too low.
They barely live in 60% of their country.
US population is spread over 2 coasts and has decent population pockets in the middle of the country as well.

I remember they said you could form a line of Chinese five abreast and march them in to the ocean and the line would never end.

I have no idea BUT I seem to remember reading somewhere that the Rooskies believed the number was somewhere between 700-800 million.
Who knows

Central planning at its finest.
Build, build, for what will come and build again if not fulfilled.

The syastem is set up for population numbers to be inflated as that is how funds are often dispersed
